I'm outtie, I'm ghost, I'm gone...so laters

I got the job. It's a done deal. I'm moving to D.C. And they want me there Monday. Being as it's Thursday and I haven't even found a place up there, that ain't gonna happen. But I'm thrilled. So thrilled in fact, I just may pee my pants and scream like a school girl.

Housing is INCREDIBLY expensive in DC. If you don't spend major bux on housing you can expect a 1 hour one-way commute. The whole area forces you to make a tradeoff between dollars and convenience.

However, much to my surprise, most of the white folks there are so nervous about living in or near a black community that the housing prices plummet near them.

If your work is on the Northeast side of DC, I'd recommend Cheverly, MD. There's a nearby Metro line with plenty of parking, and you have easy access to I-295 (which gets you to the beltway, or Baltimore) and to Route 50 (which takes you downtown).

Nice houses could be had for $120-$180,000 there, while you could pay double or triple that amount in areas that had less "color".

I personally don't care what color a person's skin is, so I laughed my ass off all way to the bank the whole time I lived there.
