My Response To March Brown..On Football..

...And The Travesty Which Sven Turned Our Beloved Team Into.

March, You know, I actually watched it all the way through again, later that night. The bloke who introduced it said that if anyone had just watched the match all over again must be mad. Oh..I was....I was so mad.. I was still willing them to score, the second time around, even though I already knew the outcome...you know, I think I was in SHOCK...a child of 10 could see what went wrong. Why couldn't Sven?
It was stupidity itself to allow Rooney to play in the position he did. Any fool might have know how frustrated he would become..he just wanted the ball.and had no one to service him, or anyone to pass to, for that matter. FGS...Sven...it makes one wonder if he did it on purpose, since he had already got the sack. I hope the new manager had nothing to do with the game plan...or we really are in trouble...surely one or the other should have picked up on it.

Oh...and as for Beckham..my heart goes out to him..I'd envisioned him holding the cup aloft many times, up to the very moment penalties were taken and missed. I'm sorry, but Frank wouldn't have been my first choice for the taking of penalties. His confidence must have been at rock bottom anyway...missing atound 30 shots at goal should have been enough of a hint that his game was off. He should have been told tactfully that, at present, he couldn't hit the side of a barn. Sorry Frank, but it's true. You have to see the bigger picture. The pressure was all on Gerrard afterwards..and he blew it too..I couldn't flipping believe it. Even when we were handed a lifeline...we failed to capitalise on it, didn't we?

As for the goalie not being "ready" for the third penalty...oh, that was cute...why didn't our goalie do that...each time he saw a ball wizz by?

Anyhow...we'll do it next time...I have every confidence that the management can't possibly be as bad as this year. We had a great squad...who Sven turned into a travesty of a football team...and he should be thoroughly ashamed of himself, disappointing, not only the them, but a whole nation.

Ok, grumble over...loooking forwrd to the next World Cup...and more torture, no doubt!!!

By the way..I wonder what will become of Ronaldo now? I don't think he'll get an support from Man U...he's grumbling at the lack of support from Alex F, at the mo...how hard-faced can a man get? I ask you!!!

Look, even Homer is flabberghasted at the outcome.

Don't want to burst any bubbles here but McLaren won't be much better. Spent more time near the bottom with Boro then at the top. OK we've got arguably a few truly world class players and that's about it. In reality we're just not good enough. We all should know better really, we're always building ourselves up as having the best team for years and as having the best chance since '66 and then go out against the first decent side that we play! As for Sven, well I'm afraid he's laughing all the way to the bank.

You were right, Susie, that is one hell of a reply!!!

You have some damn fine points and now, after reading them I feel the anger and frustration boil to the surface again! I want to watch it again, though I know I'd watch it and sit incredulous awhy Rooney was on his own and why Lampard was chose to be the first penalty taker.. god dammn that was a soft pathetic kick and you could tell by his body attitude he did not expect to score.......

What a team we had, what a shitty fucking way to go out!

Qualification for Euro 2008 starts in December, let's put this behind us and get going. We have to be among the favorites for that...

So, who is going to be the next captain?

Hello again, MB.

It surprises me that hardly anyone has commented about the footie, you know. Unless they're too upset, I can't understand it!!!

Thank goodness for you, is all I'm saying, hun.

Excuse me, but, how many of this World Cups' matches did you watch then? I watched MOST of them and there were NO good teams. As for Portugal being a better team..you have GOT to be joking!!! We were playing against them with 10 men for ages and they were still ubnable to score. The only one who saved them was their goalie...and our complete inability to flippin score penalties..it's ALL too, too cruel, for my liking. Poor us, is all I can say...I stick to my guns and blame Sven for the whole HUGE mess he made of things. I sincerely hope you're wrong aboiut the present manager...time will tell, I suppose.

Where have you been hiding yourself, then? I have just been to visit your blog..seems you haven't posted any blogs for a while though. I did comment. Bye for now.

I too watched most of the matches and there didn't seem to be any teams we couldn't've beaten. But with the Swedish buffoon in charge we had absolutely no chance. Only four strikers with two injured and one an uncapped teenager? Playing a formation alien to the team? Please! I'm not over confident about McLaren either but let's be hopeful. At least a match against Andorra should be an easy start for Euro 2008 qualification.

From now on, I'm keeping my fingers firmly crossed, regarding the England management, hun.

For a nation of footy lovers, your post has been surprisingly quiet..... as you say, maybe it is shock!

Even though I live across the pond, my passion for footy burns fiercly - especially for Liverpool and England......

Always have done. I started supporting them way back when Souness and Dalglish were kings of the Kop... I didn't even live near there, but in Kent, then Devon. After all the years of supporting them I finally got to see them play. I went to Tokyo in December last year and watched them play in the FIFA World Club Cup... watched Stevie G score an insane goal and Crouchy get two in the semi final, then we got robbed in the final - had three goals disallowed and lost 1-0 to Sao Paulo!!!

Still a little upset by that match!

    Who do you support?
