Pay Attention

Because I'm only gonna say this once.

I have no affiliation to any other bloggers or groups of bloggers, and I have no interest at all in the petty squabbling going on around here. When I take a side on an issue such as political correctness or freedom of speech, my only interest is the issue.

If people decide to agree with my take on an issue, that's great, but unless I expressly state otherwise, I'm on nobody's side but my own.

Make no mistake, I do not use my opinions to make subtle attacks on other people. My debate is with the issue and the arguments made by those who disagree only, not the people themselves. I will not tolerate that kind of thing on my blog, and I will certainly have no patience for anyone who tries to imply that I will.

If you can't abide by that, then get the fuck off my blog. If you can't handle a frank debate about an issue without making it personal, get the fuck off my blog. If you even think about attacking someone else and using me as a reference and I find out about it, I will put my foot so far up your ass you won't shit right for the rest of your life.

That is all.

Excellent statements about "Apathy" in Freeride's blog. Not taking sides here either, I simply thought you made a lot of sense with your post and it's hard for a lot of intellectuals to handle that kind of truth.

Thanks. I agree, many intellectuals are quick to look for complicated answers to simple problems. I once shared her camp, believing that the suffering of the poor worldwide was due mostly in part to the abuse of the rich. But as I have thought more and more upon the subject, I find it an irrefutable fact that for all the resources and the wealth of the rich, there poor outnumber the rich thousands and millions to one, and throughout history have proven that numbers win out in the end, as they have continually torn wealth and power from the cold dead fingers of the rich. I don't believe it would have to come from that, if the poor learned to each carve out their own little corner of the world instead of wallowing in resigned self-pity and loathing of those who have it better.

Each person is responsible for his or her own life, no choice is still a choice, and all of us can find ways to work even the most broken of systems to our own advantage if we desire it badly enough.

Ooo..ooo..and who's ruffled your silken feathers, hun? That little rant put me in mind of a headmaster, lecturing,en masse, a WHOLE school of naughty children.....until I got to the last paragraph, that is! Such language, tut,tut,tut..shame on you!

Just a remark ,on your reply to sandhazard's comment. What a lot of twaddle you talk! You mean to tell me,e.g, you''re an innocent child, born into a country where there is no fresh water for miles and you are able to change your circumstances? I rather think not, hun. Nor those born into countries where civil war is ongoing and has been for years.

The trouble with the world is the inequality which abounds. We are all of the same species, believe it or not, all living on a rock-encrusted, ball of fire, traveling through space, at a pace, even though some of us think ourselves better than the next man or woman.

The human race is it's own worst enemy, in this respect. Some people are just too greedy, wouldn't you agree?

I Am A Walrus ,springs to mind.

The language was purposeful. It relates entirely to the reason for that post in the first place.

Yes, the human race is indeed its own worst enemy. But, if there's no fresh water for miles, you best start walking. If you're born into a country where civil war is ongoing, you need to figure out how to be a better diplomat.

Many individuals have single-handedly changed the fortunes of their towns, nations, and in some cases, the entire world. So to believe we are simply helpless in the face of unfortunate circumstances seems to me a foolish assumption.

It is an illusion that were are helpless, and the rich and greedy and powerful enforce that illusion so that we will not challenge them.

No, I'm not. I live in a world where we don't get to blame our problems on the actions of others and expect somebody who's better off to just come along and save our collective asses.

The rich should use their money and power benevolently, and attempt to change the world around them for the better. If that includes assisting the poor, then so be it.

But all the rich somewhere, at some time, started poor, and by luck or ingenuity or talent or just obstinance in the face of adversity, succeeded and built their wealth. I don't believe that they should just hand it back over to the poor as if that will somehow solve the problems of the world, because it won't.

Each person is responsible for his or her own actions. I don't believe people can just sit around waiting for help to arrive or expect somebody that already escaped poverty to come back and get everyone else. Take the iniative and save yourself.

How can you call being born into poverty, starvation and hunger a choice, my dear?

If one was able to choose there would be no one in need, I'm sure.

There would also be no one to lord it over, either!!!

You see, in a perfect worl everyone would be equal...with equals riches..and what good are riches anyway, if one doesn't have good health?

Now you're just not reading my comments. I didn't say anything about chosing to be born into it.

PT..I know, hun, but people are, aren't they? It's just the luck of the draw where you are born, baby, just think on that and try and actually put yourself into their position. The people not as fortunate as yourself.

We are all in the hands of fate.

Do you think that our time on earth is predestined?

It's not about where your born or how fortunate you are. You can either choose to try and make something of yourself despite your hardships, or sit there and wait for help. Anything else is an excuse or a rationalization.

I may be more fortunate than some, but I am still less fortunate than others. Should I just sit here and wallow in misery waiting for the Almighty Himself to drop out of the sky and elevate me above my station because I'm not a billionare rockstar with the body of an athlete and a 24 hour erection?
