Crikey!

As everyone probably heard, the Crocodile Hunter finally pissed off the wrong animal, and a stingray put its tail through his heart. People are treating this like a tragedy and I'm like "hasn't anyone else been expecting this for years now?" Here's a guy who routinely walked around poking at dangerous animals and wrestling crocodiles, and I'm supposed to mourn that finally one said to him "you know what, fuck you!" and took him out. Sure I feel bad for his family, but the guy had been asking for it. Does it make me a bad person because I'm wondering if his last word was "Crikey!"?

More importantly though, why is this the SECOND most important story on major network television? I recognize he was a popular animal rights activist, but come on. Even James Doohan, who played Scotty on Star Trek only got a 10 second blip for the first day. The Croc Hunter has led the second story on the news for almost three days now.

This just goes to show you how pathetic our news media is. We have wars in Iraq/Afghanistan, Iran giving us the finger, Israel and Lebanon swearing at each other across the border, the UN running around acting retarded, Congresspeople posturing for their upcoming election...the list goes on of far, far more important things.

Freaky enough for a mention, but three day Breaking News quality coverage?

I dont watch TV so I didnt know it was top story for 3 days. I get all my news from A O L who posted it the day it happened and then more details the next day.

I can't answer those questions you've asked of course but I do agree. More important things are happening. Crazy media. Thats pretty much what it is. A ratings game.

But really, who cares enough to give them ratings on that? Are people that morbidly curious?

Its always that way when a celebrity dies. But I agree that its a bit curious.... I wonder what the sting ray was thinking..... after all, it didn't have a clue that irwin was a celebrity and killing him would put it up on top of the breaking news list.
