Gymwork and my nazi trainer

So, this summer I decided to really work at it, got the gym membership, hired a personal trainer, the whole works. Let's really get after it I thought.

And it's paid off. I do feel better, and to be honest, I probably need to update my pic as I've lost at least 14 pounds since that pic but what I have is now a lot better Give it another month, and I'll feel OK to take some other shots.

But my trainer can be a nazi. We're doing some excercises that for the life of me I can't figure out what the fuck they do for your body except cause pain. I say this because they are not natural movements. They are not the kind of thing you would think any human ever did for any reason in all of history.

I know that sounds silly, but I tend to believe in evolution and I think we develop our form based on some basis in the past that rewarded traits. For some reason, holding balls between my shoulder blades as I roll up and down a wall doesn't seem like a very useful task at any point in history. Maybe I'm wrong on that, maybe it was useful. Who knows.

Anyway, I'm up to 5 miles a day. Which is still very light, but I get about an hour in the morning, so I have to get everything done in that time, and five miles in an hour is about as good a pace as I care to keep up consistently for now. Yes, lame, I know there are people kicking my ass, but five an hour is 1 mile every 12 minutes. (almost, I admit, I run a little over on some days).

I joke that in my high school days I ran a fairly decent mile. I'd love it if I could get to that kind of time per mile again. But I doubt it
