Explain to me.. Jimmy Chu shoes.

Title pretty much says it all. Guys fashion is pretty straightforward. We wear what is clean and comfortable But, living with someone who does admire good women's fashion, and reading "The Devil Wears Prada" (and god knows, I know about Prada well enough by now! Messenger bag, wallets, clothes..) seriously, where in early childhood does the drive for $800 shoes that are hideously uncomfortable come in?

Its because women are full of competition. Men do it in sports women compete for just about everything. We are cold heartless bitches and we probably invented the term competing with the Jones...well Mrs. Jones anyways. Men do it with sports and power tools women do it with clothes and jewelry. You can smell some of them coming before you see them the cloud of hairspray, perfume and potions to make them softer and shinier. Hear them clinking and clanging down the hallway.(sometimes even the bones grating on bones they are that skinny)
Sure I am a woman and suffer with some of the ailments but I just don't have the drive to try and compete in the big leagues.

About age 2... that's when my daughter started expressing interest in my shoes and dress up clothes. Personally, I'd kill for some hot knock-offs of Monolo Blahniks, I'd get the real deals, but I can't justify that kind of money on shoes.

Look, I've bought my share of the "real thing" in Prada. And I shrug my shoulders everytime. But when I hear about $800-$1200 shoes, I just shake my head. It just doesn't make sense to me. Especially for uncomfortable shoes.

I don't have that gene. The most money I ever spent on a pair of shoes wa 105 bucks and they were white berkenstocks for work (I'm a nurse). I have to have comfy shoes, can't imagine considering buying Jimmy Choo, Prada or any designer anything.
