I love my pussy

And my pussy loves me.

Now that I got your attention...let me tell you about Suki, my kitten.

Last April, my best friend called me and told me that her neighbor, who works at a lumberyard, found an abandoned kitten. She said they weren't sure what to do with it, his wife just had a baby so she was not going to be able to take care of the kitten. And was I up to the task? Well, when it comes to animals, cats especially, I'm a sucker. I said I'd come by later on in the day.

I'm not sure what I expected...but a 2 week old baby cat was not it. I didn't realize she was so helpless...her eyes weren't even all the way open. Well, I decided to take her anyway, even though I feared screwing it all up, I had never hand raised a cat before.

I went to the pet store and bought bottles and kitten formula. Feeding her was a challenge. It took me a few tries to realize that the nipple hadn't a big enough hole and it was making it too hard for the kitten to suckle. A hot needle took care of the problem and she finally was able to suckle with gusto. Another thing that momma cat does is to help her kittens with elimination. Yes, I had to wipe cat ass. I used cotton facial cleansing pads, a corner dipped in warm water to simulate moms wet tongue...and I'd gentle rub till I got one substance or another to come out. No, it was not pleasant, but it had to be done.

She went to work with me each day, I'd haul her around in a cardboard box padded with towels. Taking care of her was a full-time job.

When she was about 4 weeks old, it was time to attempt to feed her canned cat food. Her appetite had grown large and it was really becomming a challenge to feed her. She was pretty strong and she'd get somewhat aggressive whenever it was feeding time. My hands got clawed often. It took a few tries before she was interested in the real food...eventually I was able to wean her from the bottle. At this point, I was also able to box train her. Thankfully, I had another cat to pre-soil the catbox...the smell helped guide the kitten to use the box. This was the biggest challenge of all. I was constantly vigilant...any suspicious sign like scratching around the carpet in a corner of my room warranted a quick swoop and grab and I'd plop her into the catbox. At this time, I was finally able to leave her at home.

Ten months later, here we are. Suki has bonded to me unlike any cat I've ever owned. She loves to be picked up and held which is very rare for a cat. She has a level of trust that I've never before seen. She loves to climb atop my shoulder then will lick my chin and knead my neck...I am mom to her. There were times when I felt more loved by my cat than my boyfriend...
