Why Blog?

Why Blog? Why does anyone start a publicly visible diary, particularly one that may contain information about that most sensitive area of personal information, a persons sex life?

Buggered if I know as there are nearly as many reasons as there are blogs.

I think that the majority of blogs are started as a means to communicate with other members in a more personal way than via the profile or across the schoolyard chatter of a chat room.

For me a blog beats a chat room because I can work at my own pace and my efforts remain, whereas in a chat room, once the page has scrolled down any worthy comments [depends greatly upon the chat room] that may have been made are lost in the ether of cyberspace. I hate it when my endeavours count for nothing, and this is one reason I now give chat rooms only limited time allocations.

On a personal level, my blog and visiting other blogs is an inexpensive form of social contact, and apart from the obvious voyeuristic aspect, it gives me the opportunity to develop a network of friends around the world. It is also good to learn that I am not the only one with difficulties, and seeing and barracking for a friend doing some hard yards is mutually beneficial.

The real payoff comes when you sit down after a busy and tiring day and read some of the encouraging comments left by friends and well-wishers.

I do hope that you enjoy reading my blog and I always like to see a new friend making a post in my blog. Because if I have learnt one thing in this life, it's that you never know just who will present you with a little gem of an idea or technique which can unlock an obstacle in you path of life.

I blog because I need some personal space to express my thoughts and feelings. It's pretty therapeutic for me Oh and I love the interaction.

Why Blog? Like you said - To make new friends from around the world-
to share a part of ourselves with others,For me I like reading other blogs some of the humor on this site has helped me through some very depressing times in this last year. Being able as you say to communicate with a friend halfway around the world at your own pace.
useing the blogs like a mirror- reading the blogs of the women -reinforcing what I allready know & learning a few new things along the way.I don't do the chat rooms as they move way too fast for me
(I type slower than molassas in January in the middle of a blizzard.)
Have a goodone Mustang & try to keep cool down there & I'll try to keep warm up here, Jim
