Twin Pack Bonanza

Over the Queen's Birthday long weekend Bunnings Warehouse [kind of like Home Depot] had a feature on GMC [Global Machinery Corp] power tools and accessories. Naturally Mustang being a tradie had to check things out.

I ended up purchasing a Router and Router Table Twin Pack for $98.00. Were talking woodwork routers here folks not computer signal routers.

Ninety eight bucks for a 1/2 inch variable speed plunge router, plus an aluminium deck router table. Unbelievable. I have already used the router freehand and it is one sweet unit. Very ergonomic, nice weight, and not too noisy. I mention noise because most big routers spin the cutter bit at @ 30,000 RPM and so howl like a tassie devil, not to mention the nasty kick when starting. I have worked with and used some routers that still scare the crap out of me and seem designed to either butcher your work or you or both. Mean tools with bad ergonomics and kick like mules while screaming at you. No fun just stress.

So if I say that a tool is a sweet unit it means I like it and could really have some fun making things with it. That will happen soon but first I want to tell you about this twin pack.

I went wandering around the tool shop and found the router table as a separate unit. Price $99.00.
So does this mean I saved a dollar and also got a 1/2 inch router for free?
Dont ask me to work out how those marketing types think. All I know is that I reckon $98.00 for a 1/2 router on its own is good value against 2, 3, 4 or more hundred dollars and the router table is a good bonus.

I tell you one thing though. I wont be buying Makita, Hitachi, Ryobi, or Bosch anymore.

Im going GMC.
