Everybody freeze! This is a robbery!

Hey everyone, Tim here. Basically all I'm gonna do here is copy what I'm writing in my band/personal blog over at livejournal. Basically it's been a way for me to keep in touch with fans and friends and keep everyone updated on where I'm playing next. Also is my regular (well, as regular as my column is....) column that I put a spotlight on something that definately deserves a closer look - my HERO OF THE DAY. Previous HOTD's have included Mike Portenoy, Tuuli, The Flairs & John Birmingham.
Anyway, on to the post!

HERO OF THE DAY: THE OFFICE

Man, I think one reason that I haven't been on as much is because I just bought the box set of the amazing series THE OFFICE. Written and directed by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant the show is set in an office (surprise, surprise) in Slough. But not just any office. This office sells paper. That's right, paper. THE OFFICE is a mockumentary looking at this one microcosm, run by egomaniacal boss-cum-wannabe-comedian David Brent (played by Ricky Gervais). Along the way you meet such memorable characters as the office 2IC and culture vulture Garreth Keenan (Mackenzie Crook - the eyeball pirate from Pirates Of The Carribean) who thinks he is tough because he's in the Territorial Army (kinda like our Army Reserves), Dawn Tinsley (Lucy Dawes) the receptionist with a troubled love-life, Tim Canterbury (Martin Freeman - who has just finished filming the role of Arthur in the hollywood adaption of Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy) who is in love with Dawn and in hate with Garreth and the inestimable Big Keith. It's definately not a slapstick American-style comedy, but really has a dry ironic sense of humour aimed at those who have lived that life or know those sort of people. GET THIS BOX SET!!!!!

Anyway, now it's time to plug the next set of gigs for my band (S.O.S.) coming up so get your pens ready, children!!!
Note: all venues are in Rockhampton unless otherwise noted......
