In regards to immigration..and the different treatment received by different immigrants...

Why is it that if a group of Cubans..sneaking over in their boats..can make it to the shores of the USA..they are allowed to stay and apply for visas..etc. But any other groups..such as Haitians..or Chinese..who do the same thing..and reach the shores of the USA..are detained and sent back?

Why is it..that MILLIONS of ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS..who sneaked into this country..outside of the laws..now expect to be given amnesty..and excused for breaking the law?
Does this mean that if you can sneak in without getting caught..and can hide long enough..that you're home free?

What about the people..who followed the law..applied as they should have..and have had to wait for the proper channels. If amnesty is granted to the illegals..isn't that pretty much a slap in the face to the others who try to follow the law?

While I don't believe it's even practical to send them all back..and it would be wrong to turn them into felons..there needs to be a resolution to the problem. The congress and other government officials never enforced the regulations..as it pertains to certain groups..and now is inclined to over react..to save their asses..in election year.

I have a friend who is forever telling me..when you want to really find the reason that people behave in certain ways..he says "FOLLOW THE MONEY". Too many people stood to..and have profited from the illegals..and some are now scrambling to save their asses. The rest don't want to give up their good thang.

Right on, Kiss. It's all politics and money. Living in an Ag area, we have a lot of illegals. The entire system needs to be revamped, and our borders secured.

You've pretty well said it all on this issue, and asked the appropriate embarassing questions. But I'll add what I can...

Cuban privilege is, of course, a holdover from the anti-communist days. In other words, it's a bad habit.

Elected officials who don't obey or enforce the laws should be treated to twice the usual punishment.

Political parties, or interest groups are as follows: Democrats tend to want the illegals because they hope or imagine they will vote Democrat. Republicans tend to want them because they offer cheap labor in the RepublicRat's factory or business... Even though they will still vote Democrat! Thus those Republicans are traitors to their own cause and ought to be hanged by the neck until their feet stop swinging.... right next to the Demoncrats. After "Due Process," of course! (I hope having these sentiments doesn't make me a "terrorist"

These were the Republicans, by the way, who may have trashed or murdered your ancestors for trying to organize for an 8-hour day, etc. Look up "Ludlow Massacer," "August Spies" "Haymarket Square" etc.

Problem: There ain't no such thing as cheap labor. Somebody's paying for those "benefits" the employer doesn't cover. Your tax dollars at work, maybe?

Bottom Line: Many places where illegals come from are third world hell holes, kept that way often by the United States, Inc. Meanwhile, you or I would have to pay big time bucks to vacation there. Solution: clean up those places or stop supporting the local tyrants. Allow these people to organize and run real nations. Of course, that will NEVER happen (look up "War is a Racket" by the late Major General Smedley Darlington Butler, who remains one of the top most-decorated Marine Corp officers ever).

Welcome to my head. You've pretty much pegged it correctly. I've wondered and wondered the same things. My question is why now? We have so much going on with other things in this country. What because of terriorism? Please, it's been 5 years since 9-11, we should have been more focused on this issue before 9-11.
