Google Your Blog

A fellow blogger (Merry49) just discovered that AdultFriendFinder blog posts come up on internet searches. I did some experimentation and discovered that AdultFriendFinder profiles come up on Google searches as well. Another interesting note: sexually explicit photos on your profile pick might actually be better for your privacy than ordinary photos, since ordinary photos show up, but sexually explicit photos are hidden.

Here was my response to Merry49:

This is very interesting. I did a Google search on the phrase "MasterSlaveCard and a butt-load of imagination" (a phrase from my March 25 entry called "Precum in their underpants") and sure nuff up came my entire blog. I also noticed that the url was not AdultFriendFinder, but rather, passion.com, which relates to another of my blog posts in which I pointed out that AdultFriendFinder has many forms, like Xmatch.com, for example. So if you type passion.com or xmatch.com into your browser, you will go to sites that are basically AdultFriendFinder. You can log in using your AdultFriendFinder passwords.

Personally, I don't mind if my blogs are searchable; but I think AdultFriendFinder ought to have a "things you should know" page where they explain all this stuff in clear, simple terms.

Bottom line: Google your blogs and profiles and see what you find.

Thanks for posting that. Now I'll be sure to never post a picture with my face in it (although I have one with the back of my hair, which is probably more recognizable to people who know me)

Wow! sure glad we stay anonymous on this site. Searched our profile name Cathy_Dave on google and everything came up ..... said our profile is turned off ..... every blog we have posted and not only that ... every blog we have responded to came up. Isn't that just bullshit ! You are right this damn site should mention that anything about people on this site will come up in a simple google search .... amazing.

What the fuck is AdultMatchFirm that also came up on the google search so we went there only to find out it is exactly the same as AdultFriendFinder.

Everything that people post on the internet is
public unless you create private posts in your
friend network or in groups (which are open to
anyone who joins it). Hopefully, if you want
people to read your blogs, you will be ok if
search engines pick yours up. This way more
people can read it and hopefully join the site
to repond. We are working on limiting how much
of the blogs are availiable prior to a member
joining... we might just put up a few sentences
of each blog with the full content only available
to members... or perhaps a toggle for each member
to say (show only to registered members). I
would love your feedback! We try to make the
site an open community.

Doesn't anyone read the Terms and Conditions when they sign up here? I've posted articles to AdultFriendFinder which have been accepted by other sites I haven't posted them too. I read, carefully, the T&C and saw that I've signed away, forever, my copyright rights to anything I write, post or publish on this site to AdultFriendFinder and its affiliates. On some sections of the site, especially blogs, there is a link to RSS, which means people can stream the blogs to their own sites.

Doesn't anyone read contracts before they sign them these days?

Actually AdultFriendFinder could choose to make the blog area invisible to the world if they wanted to. A simple line of text would keep google from crawling the blogs but I am sure AdultFriendFinder wants to get all the hits on google it can. Hits = traffic and traffice = $$. Its just the nature of business.

What would be nice is for AdultFriendFinder to make it possible for gold and or silver members to block their blogs from webcrawling, again just a line of code that the crawlers check when looking at sites.

Thanks for the info, I was actually unaware of this and no, I never read the contracts online, I assume I am signing away everything. If I read the fine print of every site I went to thats all I would to!!!
