Shuttle launch on despite damaged foam

What's going through NASA's mind?
Isn't the safety of the crew of absolute importance ? Is the mission more important than rectifying the piece of foam? Might as well throw it away, why put it there in the first place?

NASA Officials must be thinking -
We will lose face.
We have our Pride.
We are the US of A.
Let's go! To Hell with the foam!

They have lost their perspective totally if they go ahead. Never learnt from the Columbia disaster.

It's all PRIDE! That's what it is, isn't it?

Can't even take care of many in their own country and they spend millions and zillions of Greenbacks on a space exploration to show off!
