Picky, picky...

Fourteen years ago, I was beingheavily recruited by a lot of colleges all over the country (even some REALLY good ones)... Always been a good test-taker, etc. and had better-than-decent PSAT and SAT scores. It got to the point where I started elminating schools based on some pretty silly things. I remember eliminating a fairly highbrow college - I think it was Brown? - because they could never seem to spell my name right, no matter what forms and such I sent back with the correct spelling. So how the hell am I supposed to choose from the guys here? I mean, some of them look great "on paper" but once I talk to them, I know they're not right for me. (Yes, I know I'm not looking for a relationship, but that doesn't mean my standards need to fly out the window.) Others, I can see things on their profile that turn me off (smoking is a big one) and yet something still makes me want to give them a try, so to speak. And what do I say to a guy who I'm NOT attracted to, if I get repeated messages? Do I have to give a reason or excuse, and what if he argues against my reasons? I had one guy try and convince me for a few e mails before I had to be a little more blunt and, for lack of a better word, forceful in telling him I wasn't interested. I'm a big ol'pushover, have a tough time saying no (oh, yeah, THAT's a smart thing to admit here) but hell, I'm not about to screw a guy just because I don't know how to tell him I don't want to. *sigh* Time for me to hit the hay, tomorrow comes early, I'll be busy all day, and have a great night planned with a real honey...

People either click or they don't, it's a big world out there, surely someone out there is gonna light your fire. Be polite, and then get over it.
