Legitimate Scam Sites

Now, for the latest and fuckin' not so greatest...(and this negative world is really starting to bore me)...

I can't, due to the TOS agreement, actually list the site, but "True" to form, I'll find a way to express my outrage regardless.

I joined another site for the trial basis. Oh, it's "True" when I say that those people were more frightening than 95% of the trolls and toads I've ever seen here on AdultFriendFinder. So, I cancelled 2 days into the trial period.

However, after six weeks, I got notice from my bank that I had an over-draft fee. When I went to see what was happening there, it seems that "True"ly they had charged me anyway.

I called this morning to dispute this charge and "True" enough, I had to get nasty with the little boy who took my call. He stated that while it's "True" that I cancelled within the alloted period of time, the account was re-activated.

Now, as "True" as I sit here, I did *NOT* reactivate the damned account. To join a dating site for $49.99 for a month? I would have to be a "True" fuckin' idiot!
Hell! They don't even have *naked* people on webcams there... or even blogs...or "True" indeed, ANYTHING WORTH charging nearly DOUBLE what other sites do!

Still, they refuse to refund any charges, saying I'm "True"ly out of EIGHTY-FIVE-FUCKIN'-DOLLARS (including the over-draft fee!)

So...I may as well say this too. I had to quit my pissified little telemarketer job because speaking for an extended period of time stresses something, and I was ill again.

(*Yes. I did go home sick one time before leaving for good, but I can't run home every damned day.

*No. I did *not* just decide I didn't want the damned job, and figure "fuck it." Nor did I make myself ill in order to have an excuse to quit. If I had wanted to quit, that's what I would have done, and stood by the decision, goddammit. I had resigned myself to it, with *HOPE* that something much better would come along...Swiftly, Swiftly.

And most *especially* I am not here crying for your sympathy...I'm not here crying at all...I'm FLAMING FUCKIN' MAD...A *GLIMMER* OF AN ENTIRELY DIFFERNT KIND...but I'm saying it because some of my DearHearts will want to Know.)

(And the rest of you can KISS MY EVER-LAST LOVIN' ASS if you have something nasty to say. Bitches.)

So...the point of all of this (besides just as a venue in which to scream)is this. If my Internet should happen to be cut off due to lack of funds, those whom I *Adore*, should *KNOW* that I'll be thinking about you. I'll be back eventually, eager for your news.

OH...and if a break in my communication should result...I *TRULY* *Hope* that you will go to the "True Dog Fuckin'" site and SCREAM at them.

Now...does anyone know where else I can go and say "Ohhhh...noooo...leave *that* site alone? They will fuck you as SURE as the Sun will Shine again...and you *won't* be getting a kiss!" (Hell, at least we know to *expect* that here!)

I hate being ripped off! I joined an exercise place for women.....and no...not the one you're thinking of. Right after I joined I had knee surgery and couldn't go....but they would let me cancel the "one year" agreement that I had made with them....nor would they put it on hold or extend it through the time that I would not be able to use it. So, in March, when my year was up.....I cancelled the membership because I.....a). wasn't going there like I should have.....b). Didn't get the results there that I wanted....and c). was going to have my hysterectomy and not be able to go anyways. Well, to make a long story short, they are still charging that damn $29.99 to my bank account and I can't get them to stop it! Five damn months....of money I don't have being pulled out of my account.

On a lighter note, I just read Vatraveler1948 and read that he got to meet you! And I am so jealous since I would love to meet my ~glimmer~ myself! One of these days girl.......

PS Hang in there....that job is coming!

Well I never!

SisterBear, I think I need to call up our old friend "Bin" and see if we can't charter a couple 747's and see if we can land them on the roof of that company!

Hope they don't cut you off, I don't know what I will do without you here.

Come, sit down next to me and have a Twinkie!

...mine ages like milk!

The same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. In my case I put the monthly charge on a credit card and then canceled the account within the specified cancellation period (I canceled on day 2 of their 30 day period). I hate to admit it but I was very reckless and never didn't inspect my credit card bill every month. The charges went on for a year before I finally took notice. I called the number listed on the charge detail on the credit card and they claimed I hadn't submitted the cancellation in writing. We argued about it for a bit but they weren't willing to give in. My next step was to go to the credit card issuer (AMEX) and explain the situation. I told AMEX that I refused those charges because I had canceled the account after the first month. AMEX evidently had a discussion with the web service because they credited me for 11 of the 12 months of charges. I guess this is one of those lessons that should have gone on my own blog "Lessons Learned the Hard Way". BTW, I now inspect every charge on my credit card bills.

Well, how does it feel to be TRUEly fucked? Guess what, it's not over yet. I had my go round with those ripoffs. Send them a letter - not email - stating that you never authorized them to charge you, you cancelled, and that you do not authorize any future payments. Then send a copy of the letter to your bank and the Consumer Protection office in your state. You may have to go the the bank and speak to an officer and make sure no more funds are drafted by your TRUE friends.

Even then, it may take a couple of months. Been there.

You can sign up on line, but they won't let you cancel either on line or on the telephone (not an 800 number). That site is an incredible rip off.

I had a similar experience with a health club headquartered in Denver, with 5 locations in Albuquerque. They just kept billing me after I cancelled my membership (no contract) and then sent it to a collection agency. I filed a complaint with the state Consumer Affairs office (in NM it's in the AG's office) and it took almost 6 months before they backed off.

I don't understand how people think that theft and rudeness, combined with lousy service, is a viable business model.

On the bright(?) side, I did have the skankiest date ever as a result of my TRUEly memorable membership.

File a complaint with the your state's Attorney General's office. Call your bank and explain what happened, that it was never an authorized charge. Call True back and tell them that as you did cancel and followed procedure, if it's not refunded to your card in three days, you're filing in small claims court. What they did is illegal. They say you get a free trial and you can cancel and never be billed. No where on their site does it say you have to cancel in writing to not be billed. I did notice however, they have a suggestion box that anyone can use.... Who's up for causing a little chaos?

(What the fuck is this shit..?? *rolls eyes*)

That is just to fucked up...Call your bank and Tell them it was an authorize charge and the bank should be able to get your money back...I bank with BofA and they refunded the money immediately and then filled a request with the company for a refund..They have ten days to dispute it or pay up, most just refund the money...Stay on those ass holds..oh and they even waved the over draft when this shit happened to me....Ready

i've had problems with some online stamp site. did a free trial.. forgot to cancel so first billing was ok. emailed: they emailed back i had to call an 800 # to cancel. which was never open when i could call... finally got thru and cancelled. to discover a couple months later i was still being billed. i called... they had no record of my first cancellation. so i cancelled again. now i'm on their "you owe 1 month and if you do'nt pay we're sending to collections" letter. maybe i'll put "call them with the cancellation date and number and throw a fit" on my list of things to do for "Anti-procrastination day".

Unfortunately wednesday is anti procrastination day. i usually never get to it till friday or so. heh.

sorry to hear about the job situation. *HUGS*
on a semi bright note for me... i had 2 interviews today, possibly being called for another this evening, and post-phone pre-real interview testing for one job tomorrow, second interview for other job thursday... yikes. But maybe i'll get more $. but the jobs i've got interviews for this time are ones i do'nt REALLY want. but there's a point where money is money. And i've got the background.

Is there some sort of "consumer reports" source for checking out such web sites? If not, there should be. Hell, even Ebay has a feedback function, and they don't charge you to look at their site.

Too bad they don't have a dating service.

I understand your angst as to being taken advantage of; such would really tick me off. I -Hate- being bilked, sure you feel likewise.

You might take some comfort in The Rule Of Threes as well as the Rede. You've been financially harmed so maybe the Goddess will extract payback for you, one way or another...?
