flash backward

i want back those nights that i wish wouldn't end. back when i wish time would slow down. back when all my friends were calling it a night and i was still raring to go. now it's old times. an old familiarity that i never really enjoyed that much. i feel suffocated again. i've lost that sense of freedom. all my inhibitions are back again. focus. structure. limitations. this just isn't my kind of place. i knew there was something better out there for me. i found it. i had to let it go. and now i'm back to square one again. i've changed. but this place hasn't. and now i can't figure out how to wedge myself back in. and i'm not really sure that i want to. i have this craving to break free and be out there again. seeking new places. meeting new people. letting myself go with no inhibitions.

So what do you think has caused you to change? Obviously, new experiences have a change effect on us. But sometimes having a familiar place to go to keep us grounded is a comforting feeling. Do you have a place that makes you feel grounded?

You make some great points. I agree that having the unknown in front of you can make for an exciting time and it does keep you on your toes. I am searching for some more of that free-wheeling feeling...trying to step outside of the familiar and feel alive again. I wonder what it is that is causing you to lose that sense of freedom? Is it new responsibilities, a constricting relationship....? Sometimes freedom is what we make it....

I understand that trapped feeling. The feeling that you get when things are too familiar, too easy to see. I think part of that goes with school. It is also the trap that most of us continue to slide into. Believe it or not, some seem to enjoy it. I could never get used to sameness. What do you do about it? Find people who do not carry the baggage of "this is the way I've always done it."

Let me tell you something I read at a similar feeling in life that had a profound effect on me. It is a Viking point of view that is the focus of the spiritual warrior. It is very simple, "Live a common life in an uncommon manner." Take it to mean what you will.

Would love to shake up your life a little, but what could an old guy offer such a hottie? Might be surprised.
