Man vs Ticket Office

What a palaver! With a fresh batch of tickets going on sale for Scotland vs England at Murrayfield, I thought I'd try my luck and see if I could bag some seats to this classic fixture. Now given that I was dealing with the SRU and not TicketMaster (or something of that ilk), they had not seen demand like that in years. Their (probably single) phone line might as well have been taken off the hook, and their website was unable to remain up for more than 2 minutes at a time. However, after a 3 hour struggle, I managed to make it through to the "Buy Now!" screen and it finally looked like I'd managed to rack up two tickets. Unfortunately, the site crashed again as I was waiting for the confirmation screen. Quick call to the bank though confirmed that the funds had been transferred - so I'm thinking done deal.

24 hours having passed and still no word had me wondering though... why not give them a call now and just check it out for piece of mind. So imagine the disappointment as I was to informed by the very polite agent that they had no record of my booking, even though my account had been debited! With the game completely sold out, I was told to await a callback. At this point I'd pretty much written the whole trip off...

Then, about a week later, I receive a call out of the blue from the SRU ticket office, saying that they had managed to trace my incomplete booking, and could offer me two options:

a) refund the charges
b) provide me two tickets in a prime seating area which they keep in reserve for such occasions

Without any hesitation, Option B was confirmed and I was now heading to Scotland for the weekend...!
