Question # 5 - What is the meaning of life?

I figured I would have to get to this question sometime. So what is the meaning of life? There are a lot of people out there trying to sell their answer or at least trying to convince themselves that they aren't wasting their time believing what the do. I've been through a few belief systems myself. With all the ism's, ologie's and ity's out there there are plenty of choices to pick from.

My guide, right now, is does it work. Many beliefs tell you that you have to take it on faith. To me that another way of saying "here buy my bridge, sure it's mine, just believe me". If it doesn't work for everyone, then it probably doesn't work. That old saying "too good to be true, it probably isn't".

The human mind has a remarkable capacity to make most anything that we think is true seem to be true. Did you ever feel like you were cursed. Your mind just kept adding all the bad stuff you saw or had happen to you up to the curse. The mind can cause the body to heal itself, and to make us feel a whole variety of interesting ways. It can make us crave stuff that we once thought yucky and disgusting.

Many systems of thought like religion and spiritualism can be that way. Now don't get mad at me if you think that your beliefs are working for you. Maybe they are. For me I spent a long time in several systems and in the end found no matter how I tried they really didn't work.

I believe life is about caring, tolerance, and having fun. If we can mix all those in all that we do then life has meaning.
