B! (cross-posted from other blogs)

Comment on this entry and I will give you a letter. Write ten words beginning with that letter in your journal, including an explanation of what the word means to you and why, and then pass out letters to those who want to play along.

babelization - This word always reminds me of "Psycho Killer" by the Talking Heads. You know... " You’re talkin’ a lot, but you’re not sayin’ anything.". It's truly amazing to me that I can now miscommunicate and misconstrue with people across the globe because of the internet! (Yea!)

babushka - I love this word! This word is great to use when you take a bandana and place it on your dogs head....I know, weird, huh? But it's so much fun to say "Who's my little babushka?" And yes, I know it means 'grandmother', but I tend to make words up, so misusing one or two isn't going to harm anyone.

baggage - This is of the emotional kind. And since my imagination is a little too active, I picture something like "the luggage" from Terry Pratchett's Discworld. Hundreds of little legs attached to a trunk (or trunks) of varying size (depending on how much baggage a person has) following people around. That would be a wonderful thing, wouldn't it?

ballyhoo - Just say it. "Ballyhoo". Isn't it a great word to hear? I think of an extravagant event, pomp and circumstance...you know, going overboard. A man with a monocle saying this would be wonderful! And a handlebar mustache..hmmm, my mind is a strange thing.

bastardization - What I do to the english language. I corrupt it, I create words that don't exist in a dictionary and use them for my own needs. Mind you, it could be a process in turning someone into a bastard, which I've wondered how a person could go from being okay, to being a complete and total bastard overnight ("What you don't know is that we placed John in the Bastard Maker 3000 last night...Let's see how he acts today!" )....hmmmm

belladonna - What a wonderful little plant! Deadly Nightshade, Devil's Cherries, whatever you want to call it, it's a very easy plant to grow...at least for me that is...

beekeeper - To quote Eddie Izzard: "My father was a beekeeper before me, his father was a beekeeper. I want to follow in their footsteps. And their footsteps were like this. AAAAAAAH! I'm covered in beeeeees!"

Beltane - May 1st. Fertility celebration, maypoles I believe are involved in this...*snicker* "Dancing around the Maypole" doesn't sound the least bit innocent, does it?

bibliophile - A person who loves books. Really loves books, but not in a biblical sense. At least, I hope not in that way! I love books, I've started picking up volumes of older etiquette and grammar books (circa 1860's) just because. take me to a used bookseller, and I am as happy as a clam. You should see what I picked up a the township bookfair...

burlesque - Comedic style, with women wearing very little clothing, also a version of "striptease". I know that Abbot and Costello, the Three Stooges, W.C. Fields, Bob Hope and many other comedians of that era started in burlesque, and when I think "burlesque dancer" two names always crop up: Gypsy Rose Lee, and Betty Page....

I have been accused of this from time to time as well. I had a friend in school who would keep track of my made up words.
