Enlighten me please

Ok so with this on going debate about "same sex marriages" the question I have is.........

Why hasn't the IRS or the US Government stopped and said; "If we let them get married then we can tax the shit out of them just like we do hetrosexual marriages?"

I am tired of my sister living with a full time lover and they don't have to pay what my husband and I have to pay?

SoI ask...who is cheating the Govt. here?

Us for having a child in college fulltime, one part time and just paying our dues as we are expected, but yet, have to pay more because those wonderful deductions the IRS says you can take. You can't....grrrrrrrr Or her for not filing jointly? They run around town spouting how proud they are to be living and sleeping in the same bed togather? They are a commited couple.

Why is it the same sex partners can get away with claiming living in the same residence yet filing separate. Dont let my husband and I try this or we will go to the big house for fraud? Yep that is what we were told. The only we can file separately is if we actuly have separate residence? Excuse me?!

Enlighten me please.

File taxes separately, live together jointly and play around on each other severally!

Tiller.......make a very good point here. My sister wants her cake and eat it to. She is perfectly happy not having to pay and thinks its funny that we have to and they don't....grrrr

Tiller and Frfun.....I can honestly say that if that "medical" thing ever came up, we would ask her other half and do as she wished. We have all been honest and open with each other and discussed the "medical, or the What if" and we all know each others wishes. I would hope that my family would do as my sister and her other half wanted. I know we discuss this issue, but, thankfully haven't had to cross that bridge and put our words where it counts

Frfun...so far they are stable enough to make it another year. I see where you are coming from. Where is the difference between them and hetrosexuals? hetrosexuals get married and sometimes only make it six months? As far as the military goes, I remember those times. If you look at all the espionage cases we have had through out the years its been married men who have done this.

Thanks for stopping by

The problem is BOTH main political parties for all there preaching confuse morals with "religeon" andhave no concept of ethics at all. When I first joined the military 29 years ago the DOD comissioned a study to try to prove Gays and Lesbians were a security risk! WAHOO did they open a can of worms. There own study showed that these groups were more concentious about this and therefor A SIGNIFECANTLY LOWER security risk than Heterosexuals, ESPECIALLY maried service members of the usual age group most represented. This was immediatly squashed by the powers that be as the old warhorses couldn't take their own study's reccomendation to INCREASE THE TOLERANCE FOR GAY AND LESBIAN RECRUTES.
AND tillerbabe is correct as an RN I hav many times seen life bonded partners (in and out of the military by the way) who when one was hospitilised "family" of the ill partner rushes in to "protect their loved one" and the result is a complete spiritual breakdown of the patient sometines hastening death and always delaying healing. You are correct the only thing the government should concern itself with is ARE THEY A STABLE UNIT ABLE TO PAY TAXES AND SURVIVE THAT TO DO IT AGAIN NEXT YEAR. and no I still have not learned to spell check

It's that (ewwweuuu) "Christian Right" thingy...remember tho' if your sister or you sister's partner becomes unable to speak for their own care? Neither would be able to make medical decisions for one another...I bet they would love to pay the taxes if they could ony have this right.....

Great post! I'll be back! {=}

{{{{{{{{{{{teddy bear}}}}}}}}}}}}

I say to each their own, just dont shove it down my throat. Guess what she freaking does. I want her happy ass slapped by the govt. Then that way I can laugh in her face

We have been slowly going down that slippery slope of "fucked up" for quite sometime. It seems to get worse with each presidency

LIke I told "Sprky" tonight when we saw one of our house representatives cross the street in front of us...."I think I am voting for the Walt Disney Characters next election, can't be any worse then it is or has been in the years past."

Goldinboy, probably and getting it over with are two different things. I am just tired of her getting away with stuff that we have to pay for She sooo enjoy's rubbing it in our face. I want her slapped back, for once

I think we are getting way off base when it comes to religion out of some institutions As my elders put it, "we are getting too big for our britches, when that happens, well ....." you know they never did finsish that sentence

thanks for stopping by my corner of blogville

I think the government is confused about that issue, and wants to confuse the rest of us, as well. I'll never be elected president, coz I'd let same-sex couples marry (being PC here, doesn't happen often). Bush took his views to the extreme. He wanted it written in the constitution that same-sex marriages can't take place, that the definition of marriage is a union between a man and a woman in the eyes of god. Imagine this, thousands of years from now, people will dig up these texts, coz by then, it would be an ancient text, and they'd look at it and think, "Wow. Look at this. These people way back when were so confused about what marriage is that they wrote it down. They wrote it down so they won't forget. How fucked up is that?"

When future generations look at the George W era, that's what they'll say. That, among other things.

Come into my realm! You aren't afraid...are you?

It will probable happen and it will be about money from taxes, after all the moral majority is about as immoral as they can get they pretty much takin religion out out of every public institution so as our childrens children get in office they will have no objection to anything to bring more tax money in to pay for the huge debt the bone heads are running up now.

If the government taxed your sister and partner as a couple, then they would be recognizing their relationship as legitimate and legal and moral. I am sure that the IRS does not want to be responsible for starting the crumbling of the moral foundation of the nation, or is it the over use of Teal in fashion - it is a known fact that Bush hates Teal. Think about it, have you ever seen him in anything Teal? Not even a tie. Significant? I think so.
