contemplative of Karma vs worry

I loaned money to a friend today..not someone I consider a particularly reliable friend, but I knew he was really in a jam and needed it.

I expected to feel more worried about it than I am. I remember hearding someone once say "treat a loan to a friend like a gift and be pleasantly surprised if it gets paid back". In my mind, this is my contribution to charity for this year. I'm also of the mindset of "what goes around comes around". I've certainly been helped out of a jam by friends before. It is just his turn. I suspect that in the future, he will pay me back with a favor.

Still, I hope he does pay it back. I'm a student paying out of state tuition right now.

I'm sure you will get it back Almondnut.
I am also of the way of thinking, you get back what you give out. If not from this particular person, you will get it back some other way.
That is the best way to look at a loan to a friend. I hope you are pleasantly suprised.

Personaly I never ever loan friends money. To much potental for it to effect our relationship.
If they need it I make sure it's a gift, no pay back, no strings of any kind. Friendship is to valuable to let money effect it at all.
Maybe someone will give you something equaly as valuable. Karma is like that.

heh, would have to be pretty damn valuable...I loaned a hefty amount.

We will see. I'm going to ignore it for 6 months and recheck later.
