Squashy Wet Ren Faire

Went to RenFaire today...and it rained like a mofo. Before the rain started coming down really hard, I saw most of the faire, visited the petting zoo, rode an elephant (weird how it sways you back and forth and you can feel the movement of its hips under your butt), saw a bunch of new pottery, and feel in love with Lamas. I MUST learn about them now. Pretty soon you'll start seeing Lamas in my art instead of Octopi. Then the rain started pouring, so I fled to my car along with everyone else. Ended up sitting in my car for 45 minutes waiting for the line in the parking lot to die down. As I eased off the mudflat and onto the road, my car got stuck in the mud, but a nice guy helped push from behind and got it unstuck.

Today I got my taxes done and it was painless. The reason it was so painless is that for the past 2 years I have been keeping track of every single scrap of money going in or out on my "Big Financial Sheet". I HATE updating this sheet, but today it paid off when I waltzed to the tax guy, handed him all my info and heard him say "This is going to save you a lot of money. Some people come in here, dump their papers on me and I have to bill them for 6 hours in order to straighten it all out. You've already done the work". Yeah! Yay me!

After Faire, I stopped at Whole Foods to buy some curvy gourds. I've been reading my Kate Malone Ceramics book (she's a cool artist over in Britan) and I wanted to experment with some of her forms and glazes just to see where they will take me. I now have clay covered squash drying on the table. I'll have to keep an eye on them to make sure I pull the squash out at the right time or the clay will shrink too much and crack. When I'm done, I'll have 2 squash molds.

We had a good time at the fair too, but stuck it out even with the rain. And it was fun for me (the guy) to be walking around with 5 girls all of them going "I'm fucking wet!"
PS. Lamas are cool. I want to go backpacking with one or two someday.
