Octopus attacks the Glaze room!

Had a pretty good day today. Finally felt like I got enough sleep (might have been due to that migraine-induced nap yesterday evening). Bounced over to school and watered my grass sculpture without looking too closely at it (important detail for later). Stopped by the kilns to check on my firing...it was too hot to unload..Then it was off to classes.

Today I finished both an Octopus sculpture and a sculpture of a pregnant woman. I'm extremely excited about both as they appear to be good enough to display for my BFA final next April. I worked on them until about 6. Then I went back to the art building to water my grass seeds again...as I was watering my grass project, I noticed that there were a ton of ants in my little grass peat pots..AND THEY WERE STEALING THE SEEDS! Those Bastards! I need those seeds to grow grass. So, I'm probably going to have to cheat and buy some sod/(pregrown grass) and plop it in the pots before the critique.

Overall..its just a good day.

Heh - I wish I could make a glaze that would make perfect octopus suction cups. I had to make and attach each suction cup one by one. Took me over an hour.

There is a form of glaze called "oilspot". Its used in Japanese pottery, but it does not look like octopus rings...

Pregnant octopus??...I think they lay eggs like most fishy things do. Now I'm going to have to research that..interesting!
