A few words of wisdom from direct experience

- if you are craving coffee rice cream and all you have is instant coffee and vanilla rice dream ice cream...Do Not attempt to make coffee ice cream by sprinkling the instant coffee in. You end up with hard bitter little lumps of instant coffee all through your still-vanilla ice cream. It was like finding crunchy bitter insect bodies that released a pungent flavor.

- when trying to make an at-home hair conditioner make sure everything is warm first. I currently have a fridgid bag of goop looped around my hair. I'm sure I look lovely and the ice cold bag against my back is just a joy.

- Check to make sure that the kiln turns on BEFORE you completely load it with delicate breakable unfired pottery. I loaded my kiln today, turned on the gas..and nothing. No minor "Foomp" of the burners lighting, no fetid smell of gas. Nothing. Had to get it fixed by the lab tech and got started 3 hours late. Thank goodness I didn't have to actually unload it..but that was a possibility.
