Proud Poppa!

Ok, so I have a 7-year old son. I volunteered to help coach his flag football team at the Youth Center on base. Today (well Saturday morning) he had his first experience against an opposing team when they had a scrimmage game.

Maybe I'm a little biased but he seems to be better at seven than I was at ten and I ended up being MVP my senior year in high school. Hmmm... He completed two passes for touchdowns and took a handoff on a sweep and scored yet another touchdown.

He was so proud of himself! I couldn't help but smile all day long at what a great time he had. I had been worried because he is deaf in one ear due to a massive childhood infection that ate all the bones in his left ear. He wears a hearing aid now and is still, to this day, trying to get used to being able to hear things.

He was also diagnosed with attention deficit disorder so basically the little guy has a few strikes against him but he is taking it all in stride! He can't wait to play in his first real game next weekend!

I'll have to dust off the video camera and get some shots...

Thanks for the lucky wishes... Sorry it took so long to respond, I guess I needed to change the settings on my blog because I didn't even know anyone had responded to this post... Anyway, got it straight now...

My son's team has won all of its games so far except they tied one team... They don't really keep track of wins and losses but you know the parents and kids are keeping track...

Welcome to the blogs! I love to hear about a man involved with his son. They really need their dads! I hope you'll stop by my blog and at least say "hi" sometime!

Hi, indeed and then some... Yes, I love my son with all my heart... My only hope is that I can be half the father to him that my father has been to me...

Thanks for dropping in and I'll be sure to drop by your blog as soon as I can...
