A last parting Gift

In my travels and continuing studies, I spent time learning the about the histories and myths following the rose. This information has been gathered and it is interpreted by me, but hopefully you will enjoy.

From Greek and Roman mythology:

The White Rose represent Purity of love and spirit.

The Red Rose represents love and lust.

The Pink Rose, maternal love.

The Black Rose discovered in Africa and is tied to King Solomons mines and the Roman eXpeditions.
It represents death as it was used for poisonous concoctions.

The Yellow Rose, is actually a cactus flower. It represents a farewell. This became part of US history during the Civil War and was given to a soldier by his wife departing for the war. This is why yellow is still used for military members who are separated from their families.

The Blue Rose is for Hope, and is believed to grant one wish. Reference Arabic mythology, and the tales of the Arabian Knights. It was rare to find and grew in the rocky and barren places such as cliff sides.

The Crystal Rose - Norse and Cimmarin texts reference this sometimes referred to as Ice, it is supposed to grant the gift of immortal love and protection of those yo love, shielded from dangers with the love from another.

Mind you, most of these Roses would not appear as they do today, as they have been cultured and are not the same as the originally were. Some, like the Black Rose and the Blue Rose would not survive out of their environment, besides a cactus is not usually seen as romantic.

This will be my last entry, anyone that wishes to correspond with me, should contact me for alternate means of communication.

I leave you with Yellow Roses

I am sending you a blue rose. I think it appropriate as I am a true survivor of many things out of my element. I also think the most romantic of things are of their true self. So, this rose goes out to you for you to have hope and to grant you your heart's desire. Will be having sweet thoughts of you sugar and they won't be rare {=}
