I guess its time for me to be real

I feel lousy,I have this rotten flu, barking like a basset hound,my son wagged school today that didn't make my day any better.

Then I had to go to Burnie to file Centrelink forms, spent 2 hours there(sighs)

Next stop:Heller College for my daughter to be enrolled there, because she isn't 16 yet(will turn 16 in a months time) they are winging it for me.*Smiles*I am pulling her out of school as it is making her sick, not to mention the peer pressure from other kids.....so this Long Distence Education might be just what she needs(Known as open learning).

Because she has completed half of Year 10, she only needs 400 hours for the rest of the year to make up 700 hours of study.(The system is getting a lot tougher here on those that decide to leave school earlier)They aren't allowed to bludge off the system,,, they have to be in school, or working to get Youth or Abstudy Allowance.

So whats the school system like in your area?

Are you happy with what the school privides?

Do your kids get picked on?

I know as a Mother I am doing the best for my daughter, the rest is up to her if she applies herself to study.

Hi Robin
I am very fortunate.... both of my daughters try their best, that is all anyone can ask... and the school they attend is really great....
My eldest daughter is in the last year of 6th form or year 12.... she is studying hard for exams at present and the pressure is on to get the grades she needs for university......
in my day, course work didnt count towards the grades, but now it does...... not sure what happens if they take a break from studying here.....
my children go to all girls school too..... and they deal swiftly and strongly against any form of bullying.......
so I am happy and children r happy....... cant be bad eh!

I had written a letter to the Principal and he was unaware that my daughter was having these problems, which makes me wonder if there is a communication breakdown between the teachers and the Principle.I mean I thought the school as a combine team work with teachers/parents/and students... seems the Principal was left in the dark about this.

Thank you Sleepy for your thoughts, and I wish your daughters the very best in this their final year.Do they have any plans to attend University?

my kids graduated high school last year...they were fortunate in that they were always able to make friends easily with almost everyone...in fact, the only time i had to take anything up with the Principal was when a teacher was bullying my daughter and some of her classmates! after i found out about it, i went to the classroom and tore this teacher up - verbally - for about 40 minutes, then went to the principal

all the best for your daughter

Thanks norprin,I am glad that your kids graduated....unfortunately I wouldn't waste my breath in telling the teachers/students what I thought of them, believe me, you don't want to be in the same room with me when I get ticked off

norprin isn't that a brand of medication???just curious as to how you got your handle.

All my kids are adults now, but when they were at school, they didnt seem to have a problem with being picked on..(lucky i guess)

They were bought up in a small mining town so I thought the school was great...Not too many kids so a lot of one on one teaching...

All in all , I think my kids faired pretty well..

Robin, this doesn't have anything to do with your post, but is that a pic of you on this post? Have you ever traced your genealogy? If this a pic of you, You look like a younger version of my mother-in-law! I wonder if you might be related to my husband!
