Rome on TV

I have been enjoying this mini series about Rome during the time of Julius Caesar on TV. Lavish production filmed in Italy where they receated a forum and have a cast of hundreds. Great costumes, sets, production values. Interesting political intrigue, sex, violence and movement. Exciting period in history and seems pretty accurate from what I know of the period.

Check it out on Sunday night on HBO and in repeats.

Haven't missed an episode since its inception. That was some curse Sevilla placed on Atia and Caesar. I wonder if it will continue through the conquest of Egypt and Caesar meeting Cleopatra.

I preffered the British "I, claudius" and the books they were based on. but this rome comes alive and is lavishly done without going Cecil B. DeMille. I appreciate the sexual candor and ruthless political intrigue.
