Gay marriage Ban

The Repubs and Bush are hyping a US Constitutional Amendment to ban gay marriage to protect this institution from gays! Ludicrous! No way will two thirds of each house of Congress pass this crappy idea, nor three quarters of the States ratify it. Like the flag burning prohibition US constitutional Amendment, this is a solution in search of a problem. How about focusing on some real problems, like the US deficit, trade deficit, Iraq war, global warming, rebuilding the Gulf Coast, the US infrastructure, schools, crime, anti-terrorism, Aids, infectious diseases, poverty, worldwide hunger and malnutrition, Iran's drive for nuclear weapons, North Korea, etc. to name a few....

Theoretically conseratives like to recall that family law matters are traditionally the province of state law and not federal law. So why is the US Congress involved and telling the states who can and cannot get married? State's rights anyone?

Gays should boycott the Repub party for such divisive tactics to rally the conservative base.

Can anyone say "wag the dog"? With the economy in the toliet, Afghanistan getting ready to blow again, and Iraq dissolving into civil war, what could be more important than defining marriage? Ooops, there I go, being anti-American again. Why do the neocons care who marries who? As you said, aren't there SO many other, more pressing issues to worry about? The American Taliban is alive and well, and dictating policy to the White House. This is nothing but pandering to our own home grown terrorists. Great post Red.

By god, at least we'll all be safe from them gays!!! Me thinks that the christian right is so far from reality. Live and let live.

Unfortunately, Hillary Clinton will not help the cause. She seems to be the front runner right now. I know she would do much better than the big w, but over forty per cent of those surveyed said that they would not vote for her under any circumstances. Given the party divisions, it looks like a vote for Hilliary in the primary, is a vote for the republicans!

Hilary is divisive, but she is better than McCain!
