Back from New York City!

Had a great time for five days. NYC is great fun and very expensive. Saved money on taxis by taking the metro and buses, but still spent $1,000 a day, not counting the fur coat birthday present.

Enjoyed the Metropolitan, MOMA, and Natural History museums as well as Cooper Hewitt! Went to two plays: Three Penny Opera with Alan Cumming and Cyndi Lauper, and Sweeney Todd with Patti Lupone and Michael Ceveris! Both great. Got half off Sweeney by going to the discount ticket spot at Seaport village in lower Manhattan. Saw the Ground Zero site, and Trinity church and graveyard. Went to some fine restaurants, even though they were not killer high priced ones. We had two glasses of champagne at the top of the Peninsula Hotel after Sweeney Todd: cost $60.

Enjoyed walking through Central Park, Hell's Kitchen, Macy's and Bloomingdales, took the tram over to Roosevelt Island, ate pizza, chicken Kebabs from street carts, and enjoyed!

NYC is a great place to visit, the weather was terrific, no rain and no problems. Many people volunteered to help us with directions and warnings about scams. We will return. One of the world's great cities. Prefer NYC to London and it is up there with Paris, Berlin and Barcelona for great fun.

sounds like you had a lovely time!

i have such a love/hate relationship with nyc! when i am away too long, i cannot wait to return; then, once i've been there for a little while, i can't wait to leave! there is no other place quite like it though.

and the 'peninsula hotel' is great...not what 'the plaza' once was, but wonderful nonetheless.
