The return!!

I know that I have not posted for a while; for that I apologize. Sometimes life gets in the way and doesn't allow time for even a few of the simple pleasures we enjoy when life is not SUPER CRAZY.

My work schedule was crazy all year and especially from late May to mid September. During that time I was working anywhere from 10 to 25 hours of overtime each week. This left very little time for a life of any kind.

Work has slowed to a manageable pace where overtime is not needed and I am hoping the new year will give me time to start posting again.

Until then I want to wish each and everyone a very Happy and safe Holiday Season and New Year.

I found a little sometime to post, however, I don't have it on my computer so I will post it tomorrow. I also had time to go through an SD Card from my camera of pictures I took this past summer. I will also see if any of those are of posting quality.

Sorry for the delay in responding to your comments on my last post. I had a family emergency come up hours after I posted it and have not had time to read or respond. I will get back to everyone this weekend, I promise. Not to worry everyone, all is well now and the emergency has had a positive outcome.

Crackerjack Driver's License??

I wonder sometimes how some people got a drivers license. I was going to the gas station the other day, driving in the right lane of two lanes of traffic. A car pulls up beside me and guns past and tries to squeeze in between me and the car ahead of me. There was not enough room so he backed off, and blows his horn at me. He attempts again; on the third attempt I backed off and let him in. He then pulls in to the gas station ahead of me. I pull in behind him and proceed to put gas in my car. I go in to pay for the gas and he comes in behind me. He asked why it took me so long to let him in the lane. I asked him if blowing the horn was some kind of code and I had missed that question on my drivers test. He looked at me a little stunned.

I asked if his car had a lever on the left side of his steering column. He seems to still be a little stunned, so I asked, "Do you know what it is called?" He is still staring at me so I continue with my explanation. "It is called a turn signal. If you flip the lever up, it turns on a light on the exterior of the car at both the front and rear of the car to indicate you are wishing to make a turn to the right. If you flip the lever down, it turns a light on the exterior of the car at both the front and the rear of the car to indicate you are wishing to turn to the left. Had you used it I may have known your desire to change lanes, blowing your horn tells me absolutely nothing.

A couple of the customers in the store are chuckling, and Mr. Hornblower is standing there in awe. I don't think he is use to being told what's what. I left and went to work, I hope he learns to use that lever on the steering column.

Anyone else have any crazy driving stories??

Thursday as I was getting ready for work and heard that there was going to be a fireworks show that night in celebration of Canada's 150th Birthday. This was being put on by three local companies who's conception also date back to the birth of our country. And how I love fireworks!! So I grabbed my camera and tripod. I had a hard time finding a place to view them and be able to get some nice shots. In the end I was not able to use my tripod. It is times like this when I miss my balcony with the perfect view of the fireworks and space to set up my tripod, *sigh*

It has been a busy couple of months...

At the beginning of the year I bought a calendar which gave a new quote each day. I thought I would take the quotes that gave me something interesting to discuss and post them. And get you to give your thoughts on the quote. Well it was a good idea and may have worked if I had not gotten really busy with work and then with moving. I am starting to get things settled and have a little bit of time. So I will have to go back through some of the quotes from the past 3 months and see if there is anything in there worth discussing.

This past couple of months have been very busy with the packing of my apartment and moving, then unpacking and getting things put to rights. I was fortunate to have some wonderful friends help with the move and the unpacking. Even got to celebrate my birthday in there, with the same wonderful friends.

Today as I read a fellow bloggers post, at the mention of anniversaries, I checked to see what the actual date was which I posted my first blog post a year ago and it was a year ago today. Where does the time go?? It has been an interesting year, I have to say. I have had some very interesting conversations and I have enjoyed the differing views on many topics.

Thank you to those who have shared their thoughts and comments. I hope the next year is as interesting and enjoyable.

I am not certain if I am dedicated or crazy!?!? I got my car out no problem this morning and got stuck at the end of the street. Thanks to a couple of guys down the street I got out and was on my way to work. I got on the highway and thought, “what the hell am I doing driving in this.” I could not see two feet in front of my car. Blowing snow has visibility down to a few feet. I took the longer safer route to work, and prayed I would have clear sailing. I made it

I was at work for an hour when the executives decided it was necessary to close down. No one should be on the roads today. So all who had not made it in yet or who were not scheduled in yet were contacted to stay home. Those of us who made it to work were sent home before they take the cabs off the streets too. Right now nothing is running except essential services and very few cabs.

My department was a ghost town… lol. Of the 12 employees, four made it in, three who walk and me.

So I am home enjoying a snow day with pay!!! Think I will tackle a few of the totes in storage. See what can be purged and what to keep. Then repack what I am saving.

Stay safe and warm everyone {=}

What a crazy week!! Blew the tire on Monday going to work, cost $160 to get it fixed. Talked to my son on Monday night and told him about the tire, to which he laughed and teased me about driving like a crazy woman. Got a text from him Tuesday morning, guess what??? He blew a tire on his way to work…. Moral of that story…. Don’t tease your Mother… karma is a BITCH Bud!! So of course I had to raze him about driving like a mad man and laugh at him.

Thursday was a stormy evening, so stormy that I left my car at work and work sent me home in a cab and gave me a voucher to get back to work this morning by cab…. Now I know the cabs will be busy this morning so I call 45 minutes before I want to leave and end up waiting for an hour. Not too bad considering. I get to work and get to my desk… can’t find my phone. “Oh crap, did I leave it in the cab??” I call the cab company and tell the dispatch I may have left my phone in the cab that picked me up at X and dropped me at Y. I let dispatch know I had been in a van (which narrowed the list down) I remembered what the cab driver was listening to on the radio and told dispatch. She knew exactly who the driver was. I gave her the phone number at reception to call and let me know if they find it. Then went to reception to explain what was going on. I went back to my desk where one of my coworkers asks if I had tried to call my phone, “No, I have no phone to call it and it is long distance so can’t call from the office phone” She hands me her phone and says I have unlimited long distance so try it. I called and no answer. I sat down to start work and five minutes later get an email from reception letting me know that my phone was there. The cab driver had dropped it off. He explained to reception that his passenger heard the phone ring (it had fallen under the seat) and that is when they found it, and because I had called dispatch he knew where to return it.

I was so very thankful. For most of us, our entire lives are in it. At least for me, my work schedule, all my phone numbers, addresses. As well as my shopping lists, some of my writing, all the things I use every day. I started thinking, how have we become so dependent on our cell phones? What would you do if you lost your phone? Do you keep everything in it??

What a MOANDAY this one was!!!

I should have stayed in bed and called in sick today!!! Why?? Because going to work cost me $160.00!!! How did it cost me that??? I know what you are thinking… No police were involved this time though.

So I head to work at my usual time and leave the house and get on the highway, half way across town I get off the highway and make a right on the next street and bang…. I hit a pothole…. Damn didn’t see it. I pull in to the parking lot at work and as I am getting out of the car I can hear hissing sound. I look down and my tire is flat. Awww crap!!!!

So I call the tire place, they come and get me to the shop and the tire needed to be replaced; broke the belt and cut the side of the tire. But at least I have one tire that will pass inspection...lol

If this is what the rest of the week is going to be like, I just might call in sick for the rest of it, pull the covers over my head and wait for Saturday.

Hope everyone else’s Monday was better than mine…

This past week has been "pull my hair out" crazy at work, with no sign of slowing down for the next couple of months. As a co-worker explained tonight "this is the time of year for busy, first quarter."

Our manager joked today that we should be working 80 hours a week… to which I laughed and told him not unless he was supplying the coffee and giving up his office to build a bunk house…. So he backed it off to 60 hours a week…. Then said we could work what ever we wanted in OT.

So I have been working some OT this week, and could be working a lot of it in the next month or so.

I will pop in and say hi when I am conscious enough to do so... play nice in my absence... or naughty... your choice

Did you know… a pig's orgasm lasts 30 minutes…. A cockroach will live nine days without its head before it starves to death…(creepy… I'M still not over the pig)… The male praying mantis cannot copulate while its head is attached to its body… The female initiates sex by ripping the male's head off… (Honey, I'm home… What the …?) The flea can jump 350 times its body length… it's like a human jumping the length of a football field.. (30 minutes… Lucky pig!! Can you imagine?)… The catfish has over 27,000 taste buds… (What could be so tasty on the bottom of a pond?) … Some lions mate over 50 times a day… (I still can't believer that pig… quality over quantity)… Butterflies taste with their feet… (Something I always wanted to know) … elephants are the only animal that cannot jump…(Okay, so that would be a good thing)… A cat's urine glows under a black light… (I wonder how much the government paid to figure that out)… An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain… (I know some people like that)… Starfish have no brains… (I know some people like that too)… Polar bears are left-handed… (Talk about a southpaw)… Humans and dolphins are the only species that have sex for pleasure… (What about that pig? Do the dolphins know about the pig?)

A few interesting bits of information, and hopefully a chuckle.. or two.
