I might be buying the little 2-story house I like.

My dad asked me on the phone tonight if I was ready to be broke for the next however many years. Well, I asked him, why should it be any different than it has always been?
I haven't exactly lived my life being ambitious, or pursuing money. I've been pursuing my own life, which is hard enough. I've had a hard time coming to terms with who I really am the past few years. At this point, I can honestly say I don't give a shit about having money. Even owning a house doesn't mean the same thing to me as it does to someone who buys a house over renting to build equity or because it is preferable to renting for whatever reasons a person can create in one's own head.

As silly as this may sound, I just want some of my own space.

having your own space is nice , it can be tough sometimes as a former homeowner (also formerly married, what a coincidence) i know it was great but now that i got my little townhouse i think it may be something i would do again in the future

coincidence, eh? I actually checked into the prices of townhouses in my area and the only ones available around here are newer developments that are really expensive.

Tried that once when I still lived in PA. It didn't work out. Good luck on your attempt. Shortdogg

I know exactly how you feel about being unambitious. I never got the whole need for possessions or money. For me nothing would make me happier than to just have more time to work with. Guess that makes me lazy. If I ever became rich I wouldn't spend lavishly maybe more then I do now but honestly just enough to live normally without working.

I'd be happy if I had enough money to go on vacation every couple of years. Other than that, I don't mind being broke. I have to get a roommate when I get a house, but I'm kind of bored with living alone right now anyway because I'm turning into a recluse.
