She rides!

And she rides well.

My girlfriend was very nervous about riding on my motorcycle with me. We scheduled a short 10 mile drive in the country for Saturday morning to see if she liked it or not.

By the time we got to our destination (Lake Pleasant), she was ready to keep riding. In fact, she was ready to ride all the way to Prescott, which pleased me greatly.

She said afterward that she never was scared or nervous. Even during the short blast up to 125mph. Or the many miles we cruised at 80, 90 or 100mph. (These were very open, country roads with fine visibility).

Most impressive, she did really well going around curves. I even dragged my feet in the curves, so we were leaned over pretty far.

When we got to Prescott, we stopped at a Honda shop and I bought her a helmet. (She had been wearing mine, and I had been wearing my 20-year-old one - was only supposed to be for 20 miles). And she bought decent gloves and a riding jackets.

It was a fine and glorious ride back, though kind of hot.

When we got back into the desert, and it was pretty warm (100F), we stopped at a Circle K for a snack. I bought a half-gallon of water, and several people got amused watching her dance around as I poured cold water down the front and back of her jacket. (This gives you excellent evaporative cooling that lasts for 10-50 miles - like being wrapped in a cold blanket while it lasts).

It was really nice being able to take someone on a very good ride, being able to lean into the curves, being able to run at good speed on the straights, and having fun passing cars.

She said it felt very natural, like she had been riding with me for years. How good is that!?

You got it. Non-riders have no idea how much a bad passenger can affect a bike's steering.

Yeesh! I hope I'm not a "bad passenger"!! I will get the chance soon to see if I enjoy riding with my Sweet Baby! Hope it works as well for us as it has for you!

Trust your driver, and lean to the inside of the corners.

Have fun!

you are so right on that. usually a person will either fall in love with a bike or hate it for life. i almost fell in that catagory when someone who didn't know what they were doing gave me a ride. now i love em.
