Daddy's Girl

Our families don't agree with our life-styles. Both of our families would like us to get married (to men) and make grand-babies. So I was surprised to get an invitation to a sweet 16 for one of my nieces, that included both of us. So last night we got all dressed up and went to the reception hall. Much to our chagrin, we were seated at separate tables. I spent some time chatting with family members, but kept glancing over to Thalia, sitting at a table with a bunch of people she didn't know. After a 1/2 hour of idle chit-chat, I made my way over to her table, chatting with long-lost relatives on the way, and finally got to her. I apologized to her, and suggested that we leave. My darling would have none of that, she wanted me to be able to enjoy my family for the evening.

At that moment, I felt a hand on my shoulder. Turning, I saw my dad standing there, smiling. "Why don't you invite Thalia to sit with us?" he asked. I knew he was going to catch hell from mom for this, but in that moment I was filled with joy, my eyes filled with tears and I fell into his arms and gave him a hug that expressed what I could not say at the moment.

Except for an awkward silence from mom, the rest of the night went well, and my dad confirmed my belief that I have the world's greatest dad.

Ha thats just a girl thing, my daughter can twist me around her finger too, she always has been able to do it, and she probably always will.

Thank You for Your Time and Attention

Seated at seperate tables? That is odd...and rude. Good thing your dad had the good sense to change things to the way it should have started.

You're dad is one class act. My daughter could get that responce from me, also. Expat is right, the little finger thing and dads.

How can you possibly go wrong with a love like Thalia and a Dad who loves you unconditionally?

Enjoy a beautiful day today...

Pure Joy 4 fem, happy for you both, and your Dad, being estranged from family for whatever the reason is tough. Never stop loving them, Know in your hearts that you make each other happy, Your father has stood up and let it be known to everyone that he loves you and nothing is more important than his love for his daughter and her happiness!

that's so sweet. parents always have an idea of what they want you to be and when you're not like their ideal, they try to force you into it...sooner or later, they usually realize that they love you just because you're you - their child.

Maybe it takes a little longer, but if your dad already came along, your mom will drag behind sooner or later. You are her daughter, and deep in her heard she want to except, but still has a difficult time to jump over her own shaddow....by the way, thank you for reading my blog and posting a comment....it means alot to me

I've been browing around here and there and keep running into your blog entries. I have to say I do love this gorgeous picture of you. This blog entry was touching and reminded me of my Dad. My Dad is charming and has always made me feel accepted and loved. Props to your Dad. I hope everything goes well for you and Thalia. I wish I could meet you both.

Yes, you do. The same kind of father I hope I can be for my baby. Strong and supportive. And loving.

No... not hoping. I will. Thank you!

Wow, what a great story, it speaks volumes about your lover and your Dad.

If I had to guess your Mom loves you just as much as your Dad... she just comes from a time when how her friends and family see you is a key factor on how accepting she is going to be of your choices. Have patience with Mom, she might come around.
Thanks for sharing this!
