Sex, politics and religion

I was always told don't ever talk to a woman about sex, politics or religion on the first date because things will quickly go to hell.

Maybe one of the reasons I'm on this site is I'd really like to be able to talk openly and candidly about sex with a woman. And it may well be true that if the sex is great, who cares about one's political or religous beliefs.

But another thought crossed my mind...
the current political/religious climate (one and the same it seems) is very hostile to sexuality and women in general.

The self-proclaimed "majority" seems bent on a moral crackdown and making conservative forms of religion the basis for our nation&'s laws and policies.

And there are supposedly 22 million people playing around on this site. Obviously, most of us probably do not think like Laura Bush or Jerry Fallwell. many AdultFriendFinder members actually vote?

Seems like if all 22 million AdultFriendFinder members voted for more rational politicians, who believed individual sexuality (as long as it didn't involve children) is none of the government's business, the tide currently turning this country into another Fundamentalist dominated state would change.

Consider that if some of the arch conservatives the religious right has pushed onto the Supreme Court have their way...this site is gonna be history and we all will be facing visits from the church police some day.

I voted. ditto Moutnaingirl's comments.

I went on a date once with a guy from this site. Went to a local meet and greet. We spent the entire evening tucked into our own little corner, talking about... Politics, Religion, and Star Trek. lol. At a sex-site m&g. If nothing else it greatly amused us at the discrepency. Though he said it all boils down to sex in the long run anyhow. Without sex, there'd be none of the other stuff.

In the short run, the conversation can stay focused...but after a while it is nice to be able to talk about other things...but I always wondered how some rather extreme polarity types could avoid having major fights over politics and religion if they didn't agree....which would interfere with the sex.

But that's an interesting aspect of some of the blogs...are people just talking about sex? No way. And that's what makes this fun...because people who can write about sexual issues seem to be a lot more out front about everything else.

I had this idea a while back...while it has been easy to find friends who can talk interestingly about politics, religion, etc...they don't always have much of a sexual side. Thus, try this from the other angle...start off with the sexual interest and see if they have other sides as well.
