How much has it cost you?

Divorce is rare among the cowboys I know. That is due in part to "we’re darned stubborn" according to one of the cowboys, to "treat your wife like a bride".

The cowboy wives are not frilly fragile beings. They can bite the heads of rattlesnakes.

Another reason cowboy marriages seem enduring is "we got nothing to fight over cause we’re always broke".

One day a couple a cityboys joined the cowboy coffee klatch and the conversation drifted around to divorces and the cost thereof.

One of the visitors admitted his last marriage had cost him $25 million in the property settlement, leaving him broke. Now, remember, a major criteria to be considered a "cowboy" is to be "dumb as a box of rocks". Immediately the cowboys latched on to this slicker, wanting to know "so how much did you pay for each roll in the hay?"

The recently impoverished man guessed around $50,000 per fuck.

The cowboys turned to me. "How much for yours?" they asked.

I figured..21 years of marriage…around $10,000 a pop.

The cowboys started laughing. "Those cityboys sure are stupid. Just think how many pickup trucks they coulda bought."

So...for those of you who have gotten a divorce...did you calculate how much you paid for sex at the end of the relationship?

haven't tracked it through two divorces, but here's what i've always heard: if you put 25 cents in a jar everytime you fuck during your first year of marriage, and then take 25 cents out everytime you fuck during the rest of the marriage, you'll never empty the jar! don't know if it's true . . .

Now that's worthy of the cowboys. I'll share that one with them.
