Birds imitate cell phone rings

It is said that evolution is a critter's response to environmental stress. Some unusually evolved birds have been discovered in the vicinity of Charleston, Arizona.

"I woke up thinking my cell phone battery was going dead," said Dennis Finch. "I heard this beep....beep...beep..."

An investigation of the cell phone proved the sound, though similar to the phone signaling its battery was dying (using the last watt of power to do this), was coming from outdoors.

"We hunted around, and discovered a Mocking Bird sitting in the tree making cell phone sounds," Finch said.

A quick scientific study of the phenomena, conducted by the Fish and Wildlife Service, resulted in the conclusion that the birds are adapting to human technology in ways unimagined.

"Birds have assumed for a long time that their singing wakes people up," said Dr. Frenbush, of the FWS. "After a while, the birds realized that no one was paying any attention to them."

Then, one day, a bird discovered that by mimicking the sound of a cell phone, they woke everyone up in the area. Other birds copied the new song.

"Pretty soon it is going to get seriously weird out there, because we have reports of birds imitating the sound of a general protection fault, and of imminent airbag deployment," Frenbush said.

Some more utterly useless information to ponder...

They really are trying hard. I sort of understand critters and they talk to me a lot. Have a whole crew of lizards that see me coming to work on the propety and they all run up and wait for the bugs to be stirred up, and follow me around. Have a "supervisor" humming bird.
Had an amzing experrience with horses...they are really upset. In fact pretty much everything out there is screaming about how badly we're treating the world and destroying their homes...I must have Indian ancestors because critters don't run away from me out of fear.

It was a "mocking" bird, after all. Today I thought I heard a car alarm going off, and it turned out to be a bird.

I originally wrote that story as a joke...and have gotten a lot of reports the birds are really doing this.

If it was a joke, it was a very good one! I like your blog a lot. You either make me think or make me laugh. Sometimes both.

I do a web site that is known as the least trustworethy source of news on the web...and do paradoies os scientific bombast. Since the bots keep posting articles about sexual differential among earthworms, I occasionally post one of my "truth" stories.

Ironically, it is hard to satirize some things as they end up being being people are hearuinbg birds imitating cell phone ring tones...

That's kind of the point of this blog...think a little, laugh a little, and maybe somewhere along the way I'm going to get laid.

Thanks for visiting.

interesting stuff, just as a matter of interest, they are getting tougher too. A horrid little bird is giving my cat a real hard time right now. It chirps endlessly when he is in the garden to the point where he comes inside to get away from it.

Bye everyone, it was a blast

The birds ganged up on my cat. And I've seen them pestering hawks.

Some people think critters are dumb. Big mistake. I watched a lizard teasing the cat to try and jump across the fish pond. The cat did and landed in the water. And the lizard was laughing.
