Another rant about our bullshit immigration policies

Does anyone believe putting 6000 National Guard troops on the US Mexico border and some more Border Patrol agents is going to do anything to stop illegal immigration?

Does anyone believe building the US version of the Berlin Wall along our border with Mexico is going to stop tens of thousands of poor people trying to get jobs in the US?

A news story today says 40% of the people illegally in our country originally entered legally. So not everyone is swimming rivers, jumping fences or wandering through our deserts.

Meanwhile the Border Patrol doesn’t actually watch the entire border 100% of the time.

They’re busy running around San Diego, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Tucson, El Paso and all sorts of places in between (but miles from the Line) in their cute White and Green trucks acting like an Occupation Army.

Somewhere in all this debate about illegal aliens we seem to have forgotten that the 9/11terrorists entered this country on student visas, overstayed those visas, and were learning how to fly jets.

The FBI and the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) didn’t have a clue.

And folks…they still don’t.

I'm beginning to feel as though I'm living in a comedy/satire which gets two thumbs down for being so unbelievable. I mean, really. That's what it's feeling like.

Yeah, I'm still [blog 1hotwahine]

It would be funny except for the tunnel picture on a previous post...the tunnel is a few hundred yards from the border.I have to send my staff into that hole which is crawling with armed drug smugglers. Our countryside is overrun with illegal workers, and the sign is at the entrance to our national forest recreational area east of town.

I almost dont dare say anything because I know Americans are sensitive about this. Its similar in the country where I was born bu tthe scale is smaller.

If illegals are either political refugees or economic refugees or crooks, how to tell them apart and how to be compassionate when its appropriater and when is it appropriate?

You are right on.
One would think that the richest and most powerful society every created in human history would be able to figure this one out.
My thinking is that the people of this country are much better than the government we produce. Som,ehow the majority voting in our elections get bamboozled into buying into bs solutions that make problems worse instead of better. But, there is a great awakening happening...and our November elections hold out some hope that the cryptofascists running the place will get swept out.
