swinging and religion

I know I'm not the only one. I've been trying to place my spiritual life and my time on this site, as well as my aspiring participation in the swinger's community in a cohesive life. Does it work? I am a Christian, and I believe deeply in God and in relationship with him, but I find myself to be unable to write off my open sexuality.

Who else is dealing with this? I'd like to hear from you.

Hi ptilda:

Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. I wanted to return the good thought.

Swinging and religion: I also believe in God. Probably not in the same way that many people do. But I do believe in a supernatural power...and the divinity of us all as spiritual beings. I don't think as many people...christian and otherwise...that sex is wrong or evil. But I do think that sex without descretion...is stupid...and can harm you in various ways. Not just through sexually transmitted disease but also psychologically and spiritually. I look at the entire person...not just the physical...but the mind and spirit as well. I'm not talking religion here...no dogma.

When I talk about sex without descretion...I'm not saying that it's wrong to have more than one partner. What I am saying is it's important to be choosy in your choosing. Choose people who you like...who like you...who treat you well...with respect and love. I'm not even saying that they have to be IN LOVE with you...or you with them.

I happen to believe that sexuality is a natural thing. It's been demonized by certain societies as a way to control and subjugate women. Prior to the domination of men...the original deity was female. In fact much of what we're taught regarding christianity was taken directly from earlier belief systems. What we know as the trinity...the Father...the Son and the Holy Ghost...was originally A god...a goddess and their offspring...that which they created TOGETHER. Without both male and female essence...there can be no creation.

In fact if you really dig deep and begin to learn about the beginnings of christianity...you will find that women were very prominent in helping to establish the religion...and were deliberately erased from the bible and other sources...by men who didn't believe that women should have such a prominent place in its history. They even went so far as to change the names of women...to those of men. They also changed some of the facts to reflect badly on some women they couldn't completely erase. Mary Magdalene is one such example. She was not a prostitute. She was an independently wealthy woman who helped Jesus...was well respected by him and was groomed by him to take over in his place when he was gone.

Anyway...it was not my intention to give a class here. Just let me say again...that sexuality is a part of being human...and it's not unnatural to want more than one partner. A society establishes sexual rules according to its needs. When the rules no longer work..they are changed...sometimes with difficulty for some. I no longer try to please the establishment.

I am becoming a butterfly.

Kiss

I so agree! Ses is beautiful and wonderful, and (I believe) created by God as a wonderful gift to show love, and have fun. Hell, he made the clit & prostate as instruments of pleaseure completely separate from the idea of sex for procreation. Kinda makes me angry that religious people, in the name of being "Holy", are trying to take away one of the greatest joys I have!

Wholly Cow! I too have struggled with this one most of my life, The concept that gives me the greatest distress is that God would create a being (me) with such a strong libido and then have the gall to let mankind create religions that impose restrictions which are diametrically opposed to the great joy of expressing love and care for another person with sex and mutual pleasure. I keep exploring and journeying in the hopes that someday I will acheive a resolve to this which satisfies my desires for physical pleasure and love for(belief in) God. I like some of Kissmystuff's beliefs, I've heard them before, makes sense to me.

If I may throw in on this. I to have struggled with these vary thoughts of sex and my beliefs. If I’m to believe my teachings on this topic and continue down this path, were does this leave me. You all have given me more to think about. As for woman and the Bible. God Has placed her at the head of the table when it comes to his earth families and how the family is to be with Gods teachings.
I will never understand why a female would follow the Islamic religion. Islam is nothing but degrading for woman. Yes man may have us believe that woman are not equals, God on the other hand has not. Again man has tried to change the rules. But as far as sex and God I think it is clear. Man and Wife, “only”. Which leaves me where.
