Here and Now.

.
She's been gone for almost 20 years, but she's never really been gone...

Her last Mother's Day, was just before she was diagnosed with liver and pancreatic cancer...but it really wasn't her last...

The years have come and gone, but she's still in my mind and heart...she always will be, because she is my mother.

My wife never got a chance to meet my mother, but has heard countless stories about her...from my Dad (before he died), my sister, my oldest daughter, and myself.

We all know that my mother would've loved my wife...it's just something we feel from having known her all of our lives...and knowing my wife.

This morning, over coffee, my wife asked me if I miss her.

I replied, "She's been gone almost 20 years...so the answer would be no...and yes.

No, because I'm not like my sister, who has a very tough time with days that are reminders that they are gone...birthdays...their anniversary...Christmas...Thanksgiving...and the dates on which they died."

The yes part of that answer...cannot be put into words that would do justice or accurately convey my thoughts and feelings.

I've discussed them...to the best of my ability and vocabulary...with my wife, many times.

Knowing each other, as we both do...she knows...and so does my mother.

MrPrag....that was just beautiful. I am sure that your mom would love your wife too.....because we can all see the love that you have for her. And if she makes you happy....your mom is happy too. They say you're never really gone as long as you still live in someone's heart....and your mom does still live in yours. Thank you for sharing this today.
