I Am the Sea

Is it me, for a moment …

I was born August 3 1953 at 10 PM … Hotel Dieu in NOLA … one hour and 59 minutes before my Mom’s birthday … couldn’t wait ya see … lived the early years in the 9th Ward in NOLA until 1965 when we moved to the Westbank … 1965 till 1972 were the usual teen age years … a little mischief, but overall did all the right things to get through high school and stay out of trouble …

Bell boy …

I really started working at the age of 13 … I got a paper route and started thowing papers at 5 in the morning before school … then my dad got into it too and we combined the routes into throwing most of the area we lived in (Terrytown), over 400 papers if I remember right … it was my dad, me, and three other brothers … we did pretty good … Later I got a job bagging groceries at Winn Dixie … made pizzas at a family run joint for a dollar an hour (eat all the pizza ya wanted) … graduated from high school and joined the military in June 1972 … had to wait until Oct 1972 to actually go in because of the training school I would attend …

Love, reign o'er me …

I was 17 …had a Suzuki motorbike … and worked at a pizza joint for a dollar an hour (alredy mentioned that) … the year 1970. I was a senior in high school (West Jefferson Bucccaneers) … She was 16 … lived three blocks from me … and loved to walk in the rain, or immediately after in the puddles kicking about barefoot … she was beautiful to me … always wore mini-skirt wraps and halter tops in the summer … and she was gonna be mine was my first thought … and she was then and still is and always will be my first love (wherever she may be today) … Alas, our paths were not to be the same … I went into the military right out of high school and she never really felt more than a close friendship for me, I think … did she know my feelings for her? … I think she did … but … Anyway that’s the beginning of this story … Kathy D of Glencove Lane … and no we were never intimate though there was a special bond I think … between us … and if we were to meet today, 35 years later, it would be as if we were never apart … chemistry … we were best friends … and it does not get better than that … who knows … if I had not gone into the military … maybe … She had a sister who was really kewl too … Barbara had a thing for a guy who lived down the street … but we were close friends too … and if not for her sister … well you know how it goes …

Can you see the real me, can you, can you?

I have lived in four different locals in the USA and three different locals outside of the USA … so I guess you can say I have been well traveled … experienced cultures in Europe, Africa, and Asia and loved every minute of it … there are only a few mistakes I’ve made that I wish I could have taken back … really only one … so overall I can say that I’m satisfied with my life to this point … but I would like to finish the rest of my days (no I’m not terminal, yet) with another hand in mine … and I guess that’s why I’m really browsing sites such as these … even with the scammers and lowlifes that have to be filtered through … there are a few good people mixed in here … Those are the people I would like to connect with … just for friendship … let the benefits work themselves out …
