Tour update

So far my updates on the Tour de France have been nonexistent, there just hasn't been that much to report yet. The first week is basically just a week for the sprinters in the race. The contenders to win the Tour mostly just stay out of the way and try not to get hurt. This in no way means that the racing isn't exciting, it just doesn't have much impact on who wins the race.

Sprinter Tom Boonen leads the race at this point, with American George Hincapie sitting in fourth. For the contenders the race really starts this Saturday with a 52km time trial. This is when the men get separated from the boys. -excuse the cliche- After Saturday we will see who is on form and in good shape to take the overall. My pick for the win on Sat and the entire race is another American, Floyd Landis. He is a former teammate of Lance Armstrong and now rides for the Swiss team Phonak. Landis has really emerged as a threat this year and has been fantastic all year.

Later tonight I will give a complete recap of the first week up to this point.

BTW- That is Floyd Landis in the pic.
