Be afraid. Be very afraid.

In another clear attack on the civil liberties of Americans, it was revealed a few weeks ago that a provision in the new Patriot Act would allow the Bush administration to charge people as "disruptors" for protesting at presidential speeches. Apparently, making citizens pledge a loyalty oath to gain admission to campaign speeches wasn't enough. Now protesters would face up to a year in prison.

Bush has long said of the terrorists "they hate us for our freedom", it now seems he is launching a campaign to win over the terrorists by taking away more and more of those freedoms. Coming directly on the heels of the wiretapping scandal, and trying to gain unlimited presidential power, this is not a good sign of better times to come.

I don't know about you folks, but I was taught in school that the right to peaceful assembly was one of the cornerstones of our freedom. A freedom which is held up by the republicans as what is right and good in this country.

Last week, while giving a speech in Kansas, President Bush referred to free speech as a "custom" instead of a right of the people. It should be painfully clear to all that Bush is ignoring the oath he swore during his inauguration to uphold the Constitution.

In case you forgot just what that oath is, as I know he has, here it is.

"I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."

I'm not sure if Bush doesn't understand this oath, or if he just doesn't care to follow it. So, it is up to us as Americans to hold him and his entire corrupt administration accountable for their actions. How? Simple, vote democrat.

Side note: Tomorrow mourning Samuel Alito will be confirmed as the next Supreme Court Justice. Further evidence that a large portion of the citizens in this country don't care what direction our leaders take America, as long as gays can't get married.

Bush supporters should be ashamed of themselves.
