Black Bike Week-end in Myrtle Beach

This is a subject I want to remember and discuss.

Okay.. let me first start out by saying I'm sorry if I offend anyone.

>>*Now watch, I'll be a racist for posting this*
>>
>>The truth is.....
>>You pass me on the street and sneer in my direction.
>>
>>You call me "Cracker", "Honkey", "Whitey" and you think it's OK.
>>
>>But when I call you, nigger, Kike, Towelhead, Sand-nigger, Camel, Jockey, Beaner or Chink you call me a racist.
>>
>>You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you, so why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live?
>>
>>You have the United Negro College Fund.
>>
>>You have Martin Luther King Day.
>>
>>You have Black History Month.
>>
>>You have Cesar Chavez Day.
>>
>>You have Yom Hashoah
>>
>>You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi
>>
>>You have the NAACP.
>>
>>You have BET.
>>
>>If we had WET(white entertainment television) we'd be racists.
>>
>>If we had a White Pride Day you would call us
>>racists.
>>
>>If we had white history month, we'd be racists.
>>
>>If we had an organization for only whites to "advance" our lives, we'd be racists.
>>
>>If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships, you know we'd be racists.
>>
>>In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists.
>>
>>You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you
>>call us racists.
>>
>>
>>You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us. But, when a white police officer shoots a black gang member or beats up a black drug-dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist.
>>
>>I am white.
>>I am proud.
>>
>>But, you still call me a racist at every little infraction.
>>
>>Why is it that only whites can be racists?

If anybody want to call Peachzes a racist for saying what most whites think (but are afraid to speak) then you'll have to go through me to get to her. You'll also have to go through the constitution of this country because it gives her a right to say whatever she wants. Peachzes has taught me to not wallow in any form of self induced misery but to rise up to meet each new day and live it to the fullest. That's good advice for anyone angry about the color of their skin too.

Give 'em hell Peachzes. I love you.

I have to agree with you Peachzes. This country has become a little too politically correct.

Dear Peachzes,

I understand the comments made as they are accurate for the most part.

However there are some things that often get lumped together which perhaps should not.

First, I have to make clear that I am Hispanic. That brings us to my first point. Somewhere down the line someone made the mistake of using the term Hispanic to designate a race. As I mentioned to you recently, Hispanic is really an ethnicity and not a race. The use of the term Hispanic as a race is as incorrect as the use of the term American as a race. It is one of the biggest misconceptions out there.
there are black hispanics,Caucasian hispanics like myself, as well as Hispanics that are descendents of the folks that were already here when the Europeans arrived.

The Merrian-Webster Dictionary defines Hispanic as follows:
Latin hispanicus, from Hispania Iberian Peninsula, Spain: of, relating to, or being a person of Latin American descent living in the U.S.;
especially : one of Cuban, Mexican, or Puerto Rican origin

In terms that most red blooded American males will understand, Salma Hayek (Mexican), Raquel Welch (nee Raquel Tejada - Bolivian father), Penelope Cruz (Spanish) are all Hispanic. For the ladies, remember Raul Julia (Puerto Rican), Joaquin Phoenix who played Johnny Cash (Puerto Rican). Do any of these look like what you think of when you think of Hispanics.

I agree with a lot of the frustration that is felt by other Whites. I find it amazing that some in our country are so lazy that they now have their welfare checks "direct deposit" into their bank accounts so they do not have to go to the bank while illegal aliens - you will not hear me say "undocumented aliens" - walk for days across the desert risking their lives to, for the most part, do an honest day's work for an honest day's wage!

As to MLK, Jr day, do you realize that there are now only two individuals who have a holiday to recognize their birthdays - Martin Luther King and Jesus. That is just not right!

Luis

First, I am not as eloquent as my hispanic friend above, and maybe not as passionate about the subject as the originator of this thread. I will say that I agree with much of what you state. Why? Because I believe we all experience racism in some form throughout our lives. Where I think most people go astray is in the reasons behind the feelings. For Black Americans it stems from the manner in which we were brought to this country, and yes many an African were sold by Africans to the Europeans. But, of all the ethinic groups blacks did not come to this country of their free will, they were dragged here like animals and degraded like no other. Our language, cultures and customs were erased and stripped from us. Families torn apart, women , children brutlaized and murdered, Men used as pack animals to enrich the lives of others. The closest that comes to this is the American Indian, a people whose land, traditions and way of life were all but erased. The land which was conquered by European and Spanish groups. Think about it, what ethnic groups have travelled throughout the world and layed claim to lands from which they were not born. Have Africans gone into Europe and taken over the UK, France or Germany. Did the Indians leave America and travel across the Oceans to Japan, Europe or any other land. No, both cultures remained in their native lands. They may have fought each other but did not venture outside of the traditional home lands.

European and Hispanic groups travelled from their home ports to Africa, the Carribean, South America, Hawaii, South Asia and in each place they lay claim to a land that was not theirs. Layed claim to lands that had people already occupying it and living in relative peace. Those of european and hispanic decent, by-and-large have come to this land of their own free will.

I do not hate or dislike any other group of people as a whole and would hope that you also do not feel hate towards any group of people simply because of the color of their skin, their language, culture, traditions or spirituality. In fact I look at each group differently. I try to understand, take part in and admire their culture and achievments. And because I may not approve of some of their ways does not make me a racist. But, am I able to say I have never spoken a racist word, No. And I challenge each of you to look back through your life and tell me that you have never entertained racist thoughts.

I sincerely hope I have not offended anyone or any group of people. The key word being "PEOPLE". We are al humans, we are all capable or love, hate, enlightenment, fear, anger dominance in one shape or another. And the sooner we all recognize that we are people and that no one group is more priviledged than another, the more quickly the world will become a place of peace and harmony.

Imagine if we all just pooled our knowledge and talents how different this world might be, instead of fighting, warring and wasting energy on judging people merely for the ethinic background. An ethinicty that not a single one of you chose to be.

For the reasons behind the feelings. How long do these feelings need to stay alive? Is the feeling productive for all people? No, it is not!
Having done the research with people - Not one person stated that they had ever had shackles on and drug to my town. All of them either arrived by their own vehicle, birth here.
I do agree with you. What is the answer? Education, maybe.

There was a scholarship offered at a major university. It was a small scholarship, only $250 but was offered as a white ethnic scholarship. As with all ethnic scholarships, applicants had to submit a photo to prove their race or "whiteness" in this case. This caused a HUGE stir and was denounced as racist. The very funny thing is that it turns out the scholarship was offered by 3 students I believe who were black, hispanic, and asian. They did it to prove the point of how hypocritical the country is about race. A black professor of mine showed me the article about it which he posted on his office door he loved it so much!

Good for you Peaches. Bravo. We have lived too long in a country that insists on political correctness. I am not afraid to say that I am a white american(not german american,italian-american, franco-american, british-american, or any other dash american) male with graying hair, average height, somewhat visually challenged I guess(I wear glasses). Why does everything have to be this way? I know many short people height challenged), several bald men( follically challenged?), etc. I am at times intellectually challenged (dumb some would say), humor challenged( can't always come up with a witticism), and face many other challenges. WE ALL DO. This country was made and improved based on the assimilation of peoples from all around the world, by choice and non-choice. If we all pull together and remember how to be honest and TAKE A JOKE periodically, this country will be better off. We are suffering today from our own attempts to be everything to every race, color, creed and antional origin. We ned to get back to being America, that is and alwyas has been what we do the best. So either jump on the bandwagon folks or get out of the way, go somewhere else and enjoy the greener grass there. It doesn't get any better anywhere else in the world. That is why we are loved and why we are hated. We have what no one else in the world has....opportunity for everyone that wants to work hard and get ahead.
