Interesting thoughts (politics)

I just had an epiphany... an enlightenment... what ever it should be called... I have figured out how to fix the Democratic party!

Usually when a politician is called a puppet, it's intended as an insult. I think it should be crucial to stradegy. Everyone knows Bush is completely ineffectial as a leader. He is considered a puppet of the right. The question is, Who's pulling the strings? I Figured it out. They all are!

What the right has done has created a presidential string time share!

Bush isn't bright enough to understand this, but his time has been sold above market value (The GOP created a market for corruption with the K Street Project). By turning him in to a time share, they were able to sell more time than he actually had. The end result was wide spread corruption at a bargain rate.

There are so many puppet masters, and hands on the strings that it's difficult to form an agenda. Everybody with an interest is represented, as long as they have enough money to show up at the table.

The Drug companies got medicare reform, the credit card companies got the bankrupty bill, the military industrial complex got the war in Iraq, the hard right christians got hard right judicial nominees, The Brokers got screwed because Social security reform failed, but at least there interest's were represented. The GOP has truely distilled corruption down to it's purest essence. But how can the democrats compete?

Here is where the Dem's need to make changes.

First of all, everyone wants to be the marionette.

The Dem's need to re-think the presidency. They need to understand that the characteristics of a good leader are not the same as the characteristics of an electable leader. They were when Clinton was elected, but times have changed. They need to find a person within the party who has huge electability and is willing to play second fiddle in the interest of the party. Nominate that person, and unify behind them!

Second, They need to Sow some seeds!

They have (Unsuccesfully) been trying to put potential future leaders in there place. Trying to bend there will and humble them before the party. Paul Hackett was a perfect example of this. They should embrace these candidates, and encourage them as much as possible.

third, Well, this probably should have been first, They need to establish a firm chain of commant at the DNC!

They need to take all of the people interested in leading, and give them a high place in the DNC. Let these leader debate the political party line and set an agenda! That will give the party the perception of unity. The right did this years ago, and since then, they have taken control.

I guess these are just the rants and ravings of a disgrutled citizen. I'm sure the left has already though of this. I guess I'm just a little pissed off that they haven't done much about it.

not quite sure how a party led bi the likes of Pelosi, Read, Kerry, Dean, Kennedy (i mean jeeeez), Gore etc etc etc can put down the other guys on anything.

I agree the other guys are not great, but dont make fun of them, thats just "cheapshotting" .....offer "real" alternatives. now, therin lies the key to demo's failure

The Dems need a true progressive, one with a powerful and coherent voice. One who cannot be corrupted by the river of dirty money flowing through bowels of Washington. So ... who do ya' think wants to be the next Paul Wellstone?
