What the hell is this blog about?

This is an introduction to the topic of this blog so that you can decide whether or not to pay any attention to this in the future. The easiest way to start is by saying that this blog will NOT be a collection of my general and random musings, experiences, and opinions. This is not because I don’t think anyone would appreciate them, I mean, after all, I am the “average guy” and who wouldn’t want to know my thoughts on everything? I get called several times a week by companies and organizations wanting to know my opinions on topics such as what peanut butter I like, would I be interested in a timeshare in Sun City, and what do I think about the current situation in Iraq? Sheesh, everytime I buy something online, the company is so impressed that they actually offer me the chance (odds depending on number of responders) to get paid to provide my opinion! How cool is that? I usually turn them down, and as a result, I sometimes feel bad about being so selfish with my thoughts, but y’know, there’s only so many minutes in the day and so many of these postage stamp sized pictures of women to look at.

Anyway, what prompted me to start this blog, is the multitude of posts in the Advice section of the Magazine bemoaning many members’ absolute failure to get what they want out of this site. Believe you me buddies, I feel your pain! To be sure, there are some wonderfully generous souls who monitor those sections and provide what help they can, but even they must get sick and tired of dealing with this topic on a daily basis, particularly when having to deal with individuals who are often rude, obnoxious, and surly. Unfortunately, there’s no magic pill that will help one stand out in the 10/1 guys/gals situation (although I’ve got some coming in the mail… they had a money back guarantee so it has to work, right?) So what’s a guy to do? The truth is that there is some pretty sound advice given throughout this site and since I’m an experimentalist in real life, what I plan to do is to try and follow some of this advice and chronicle the effects and results here. The general roadmap is to establish an attractive profile, participate on others’ blogs, join some groups and chats, upgrade my membership status to start contacting people, and then ask, “Why am I not getting any responses?” I’m quite certain that I’ll have many, many disastrous results. The carnage should be glorious!

Any and all comments will, of course, be welcome. Even ridicule.
