I went and rented this movie Hostel and I ment to see it in theaters but never got around to it. In all truth this was a pretty easy movie to predict there wasnt much shock and surprise to it. The first half of the movie is mostly T and A and the second half is blood and gore....However when I watched the commentary the director commented that he originally was doing a documentary on about rich buisnessman who actaully purchase people to kill and torture. Aparently the closer he got the more dangerous it became for him. So he decided to fictoinalize it and thus this movie is born...Now There are some gross parts in it. It is pretty grusome in the end but honestly. There are just a few funny parts especailly the children thugs they were funny. In all truth I will say it was a 'OK' movie If you're going to see it just rent it...I dont think its worth buying IMHO

Thanks for the input. I was seriously thinking about seeing it at the movies ... but, like you, I never got around to it. Can you liken this movie to anything else?

You know ...

.... if you like "insert movie title here" then you will probably like "Hostel"

Once again, thanks for the information.

I've been meaning to check that one out.

I fianlly saw Doom. Not much of a story, but then again, Doom was never about the story. Just blasting demons.

sideline - Liken it to something....hmmm Well to be honest I cant really say..I want to say perhaps Dr.Giggles is similar in the aspect of sadistic people tortureing other people..thats about the closest I can get...When I first had seen the previews I thought perhaps it was similar to The Saw...but its not...The Saw was WAY better...Its basically a TnA spectical with blood and guts towards the any other B horror flick...The story to it though is kind of creepy in the fact that it could and more than likely IS real in some parts of the world. But thats all its got going for it...

nick - That I'll agree with but I liked Doom...I like all the movies with The Rock in them...he just so damn funny...When he grabs the BFG and says...AH SHIT!...I just couldnt stop laughing As far as the story yea it was lacking a bit and didnt really keep true to the actual Doom least not the first game...Im not sure about Doom 3 havent gotten to play it yet but I think for a movie based on a video game is was pretty well done if you take into consideration of well...Street Fighter comes to mind....and so does Alone in the Dark...the two worst game movies ever to be made.

Thank you again nightstalker. My daughter told me she had seen the movie. I'm not into much blood and gore .. more into psychological and extrasensory thrillers. She thought it would be good to see ONCE and she stressed the once.

Thanks for the review. I have heard good and bad things about this movie...guess I'll just have to rent it and see for myself.

Agree with you about was better then I expected it to be. Very well done for being based off a game, I thought. But the creepy glowing eyes in the sewers?? *dives under covers to hide*

The story for Doom 3 unfolds through out the game. Your guy just arrives on Mars, along with two other guys, an executive of the UAC, and his bodyguard, and it unfolds as you play the game. You'll come to find out that the lead scientist has been experimenting with the teleporters they built, found out it was a gateway to hell, and found a way to bring the demons to Mars. The story plays out like the first two games never happened.

You are absolutely fucking right! I don't rent movies, because husband and I generally end up paying more in late fees than the movie actually costs. Also, the price of a DVD is actually less than if we were to go see the movie in the theatre.

Any who, back to your post, this movie sucked. You are correct with the obligitory T and A. The gore really wasn't creative. DVD will go to Goodwill.
