Job Hunt

OK, since I've yet to find that gentleman to pay the bills, it might be necessary to get a (gasp!) job. So, there I am, scanning the classifieds when I find the perfect one; sales clerk at a local Adult store.

Now , that raises some issues , so to speak.

How would you handle neighbors or your child's 2nd grade teacher coming in? Could you treat it as just another sales clerk job?

Would you take part in career day where all the little boys and girls proudly drag Mommy or Daddy into class to tell all their buddies what their parents do for a living?

How about the ever popular "Take your daughter/son to work" day?

And most importantly - do I get an employee discount?

Turn that around - would you feel uncomfortable if you knew the person behind the counter at your local store? Would PTA meetings ever be the same again?

Just some thoughts.....and how much is that employee discount anyway?

My niece was working as a manager at an Adult store up in Alaska.

And she was only 18.

I was quite suprised to find that out.

Talk about "Dirty Jobs". Is there a "friends and family" discount available?
Have a great day,
TJ

SW - thanks for visiting, and yes, it sounds a bit young but I guess 18 is considered 'adult', unless you want to drink (and don't get me started on that - die for your country, but you can't have a beer).

TJ - morning! I know, I guess someone has to do it. I'm real curious about the discount, even more so the chance for free samples, inventory clearance etc. Should I put you on my 'friends' list? Oh, and I'm wondering how the interview for this job would go......mind boggling.

A basic principle of sales has been overlooked. Any decent sales clerk should be able to recommend a product, based on the customers needs. Therefore, all products should be personally tested by the sales clerk so that an honest personal recommendation can be offered. There-in lies the employee discount. Would You go to an Adult Store for their annual "slightly used" sale???

Valid Point - although the concept of a sales clerk knowing anything about the products they sell seems to be all but ignored these days. So, if I get this right - I would get to 'road test' (or would that be 'bed test') everything so I can offer an educated opinion? And they pay people to work in these stores?

I think an employee discount could be a very necessary fringe benefit

Hey night - for the sons and daughters aspects - more like a mafia response "she's in sales" - nothing offered beyond that.

Have a great day!

My 2 cents - for what it's worth -

How would you handle neighbors or your child's 2nd grade teacher coming in? Could you treat it as just another sales clerk job?
>> same way I'd treat someone who showed up to a swaper party - smile and let them wonder..you're there for a job, the teacher is there for some retail bizzness..

Would you take part in career day where all the little boys and girls proudly drag Mommy or Daddy into class to tell all their buddies what their parents do for a living?
>>> sure , you're in retail sales. nuff sed.

How about the ever popular "Take your daughter/son to work" day?
>>>>thats the day you take another part time job @ mcDonalds

And most importantly - do I get an employee discount?
>>>>one would hope as well as being a crash test dummy for new products..like the diesel fired rabbit toy/dildo...

Turn that around - would you feel uncomfortable if you knew the person behind the counter at your local store? Would PTA meetings ever be the same again?
>>>>I think it would be neat. I could ask if that person had any favorite products, magazines, or fav edible undies flavors, videos, ,,etc...

Just some thoughts.....and how much is that employee discount anyway?...
>>>>>question,,do they offer group rates for your close freinds?

But would I actually bring home any money or just arms full of toys?

Night, Per your valid point reply; I believe that bed-testing [or at least home-testing] would be the testing method of choice. "Road-testing" could be dangerous and would violate the standard disclaimer of "Do NOT use heavy machinery or operate a motor vehicle while using this product"

A point that I failed to note before is that you will also require a willing male to test 'gender specific' products, as well as to assist you with the testing of products that require a partner. I realize that finding such a person would be a difficult task and yet another possible drawback to the job, but I'm sure that eventually 1 or 2 guys might step forward. ........... [Where did you say those applications were?]

Guys - I have to thank you - I have been having a miserable day (you know, that pesky real life stuff) and I needed a good giggle. I truly appreciate your wonderful replies. Now.....I had those applications here someplace.......
