I will be the first person to admit that I am not perfect in anyway form or fashion, I make mistakes and sometimes may not make the best choices, but I try to get along with everyone and do my best to be happy and helpful to everyone that crosses my path. I do not judge anyone for the choices they make, whether it be, religion, politics, sexual preferences and what not.
I do however draw the line when it comes to my kids and anything that has to do with them. Anyone try to hurt them or put them down then look out cause mommy bear will eat you alive.
I am a very protective mother, not to the point that I hover over them and keep them from doing things they want to do because they might get hurt, but I do worry about them and maybe even go over board and imagine the worst when I don't have to.

But reading the news, living and working in an environment where I see and hear of things that happen to kids that shouldn't happen to them, my imagination tends to run wild at times.

I just don't understand a parent that doesn't insist on their kids wearing safety devices such as seat belts in cars and helmets when riding motorcycles. I can't imagine ever being mad enough at any of my children that I refuse them food, or beat them senseless. I to this day wonder why any woman would put a man before her child and turn a blind eye to her husband or boyfriend while he molests or abuses their child in anyway. Same for any father who does the same.
I damn sure can't fathom why anyone would get pregnant, then go and drink alcohol, and abuse drugs the whole time.
I know that not everyone does these horrible things and that there are sick and mentally ill people that can't determine right from wrong, but why the rest of us who can continue to let this horrible cycle of violence continue is an even greater mystery to me.

I had an occasion to hear of and deal with a person who had been drinking and driving, and happened to hit another car and killed a five yr old boy. This person had no remorse for what he had done, he didn't even have the sense to understand what he had done, he was so intoxicated all he could think about was himself and his injuries.
It is very hard for me to imagine what that child's poor mother must be going though right now and all the pain she is feeling and the lost of that sweet little child.

Just makes you wonder why sometimes. Also makes you feel it isn't fair that this person walked away with injuries that will heal when a poor innocent mother will never be able to hold her son again.

I am the same way with my kids, i tend to overprotect. Maybe i'm just cynical and belive the possible worst will happen, or maybe i'm just realistic and know that these kind of things happen everyday . I always tell them to wear seatbelts, be careful, etc and they always say "yes mom we know". Like you i just want them to be aware and alert and stay out of harms way. I dont feel there is anything wrong with that. You are just being a good Mom. It just amazes me how some people can go out and cause harm to other people without remorse. It makes me wonder if they would feel anything if they lost a loved one because of someone elses compulsive behavior. The world certainly can be a dangerous place sometimes.

I am with you too sexy. I wrote a BLOG today No way there isn't a GOD!!!!!! Part two about what almost happened to my family and if they weren't wearing their seat belts it could have been a lot worse. My three kids are my main reason to wake up each and every morning.

i do agree with you 100% parenst must be aware wih theirs kids about security devices of any kind. But you are misssing the point here and the bponit is education to the parents. The goverment must have the iniciative in order to teach the parents how to behave on this particular situations, Because If you have educated parents, you will have educated sons

I work in a major trauma hospital.....some of the things seen you would not believe. It's true, kids are what we live for, so many times I have wished I could lay hands on them and heal, or wave a wand and give them decent parents.
