London calling!

The UK... I wish i could see it throught the eyes of the tourists... i truly wish i could see the beauty of the country, ignore the crumbling societal values, be unable to understand the slights and ignorance going on all around, on the tube, in the street, in the homes.
sadly i cant, i still a native and so see throught the eyes of one who has grown up there and wathed its sad slow slide form a once rightly proud nation to a bastion of yob culture and money takes all attitudes, where family is meaningless and other humans are nonexistent unless you have prior knowledge of them.

My dear friend lips and her chum have just come back from Ireland and have, i believe, loved every minute of it... Im so glad for the that they chose ireland and not london for their trip...

anyway, it was nice to see my family and i had some great "meetings". also got to have a go in the new jag which was a fantastic motor and i would reccommend one to anyone who really really doesnt want a porsche 911.

so, other ways i spent my time... mainly travellling on trains, having dinner with a greek friend, the pair of us confusing everyone by sitting and chatting in grenglish and whenever our phones rang she would answer it in english and i answered mine in greek. sitting on the train chatting to friends, in greek.
I do love being able to use a mobile in privacy!

arriving home at 3am this morning and it being hotter than it was in the uk all day was really nice although for the first hour my body completely freaked out screaming "TOO HOT, TOO HOT!" at me and im lookig forward to catching up with friends tonight and enjoying some good food!

many kisses everyone

I have noticed you looking at my blog, so I just read yours. I replied to your posts on the UK and London, but decided to delete them, because they were too nasty.

You seem a nice bloke, who is certainly not stupid. So why dissmiss a great city and country from such a flimsy and ill informed angle.

Firstly, don't go on about crumbling social vales and money takes all culture, when you talk about Jags and porches in the same post !

As for your talk of familly is meaningless, thats an insult. On the surface, yobs and pushy youngsters don't add up to a morally corupt nation. Londoners still are very strong on familly and close friendships and will always look after each other.

If you can't look past your own misgivings that is a shame as london, for many other people is one of the best cities in the world. It has its proplems yes, but its culture, history and nightlife outstripes many other places.

Maybe you should pop into Athens and view the lovely smog, dirty streets, poor facilities, women unable to walk the streets alone - DURING THE DAY ! - and historic sites very poorly looked after. I loved Athens and would love to go back there again one day, mainly because I can look bast all the sexual abuse and dirty and see and great historic city, struggling to come to turns with its ever going population.

Yob cluture is the UK is a huge problem, but the actions of a MINORITY do not, DO NOT, make the nation as a whole.

I hope that you take this comment in the way it is intended, this is a comment from a proud Londoner who hates to see London misunderstood.

By the way great blog

how presumptious of you to think that noone understands your mobile conversation just because your speaking in greek!

Like many of your bold sweeping statements its one hell of an assumption.

Hi star,
thanks for stopping by, if you visit reguarly you will notice i do love a bold sweeping statement and theres nothing them for getting under peoples skin... not sure how presumptuous it is to assume that by talking in greek, in london, that the number of people who understand is going to be limited and therefore gives me a modicum of privacy, lets face it, not many people apart from greeks can speak greek!
thanks for stopping by

Hi Naughi,
first, you shouldnt have deleted the on the grounds they were nasty, I quite like that in a person....
Im glad to see someone taking pride in where they are from and its great to hear someone supporting London and the UK, sadly, as you may have gathered i dont feel i can do that any longer.
whilst i was there i found some news to read and i had every intention of using some of the more ludicrous articles as inspiration for future blogs.
you said my opinion was flimsy and ill informed but im not sure how youre opinion or mine is any more valid than the other, we are of similar age and with the exception of the last year i was living in the uk and travellling out of it to other destinations.

i dont think its hypercritical to discuss a "money takes all culture" and talk about porsches and jags, I happen to have a friend who, through over twenty years of hard work, amassed himself something of a fortune (i mean hes in the rich list type fortune) and so as a result is in the position to buy whatever he wants. i do think this is a little different to the attitude of todays youth that without wealth or the ability to inspire fear youre meaningless.

youre assessment of a few bad apples being the problem is optimistic, i dont think its a few bad apples, i believe that its one and a half generations!
im going to stop here and put the little story i have in a post instead of here.
many kisses naughi

Hi Star,
I just remembered who you were! thats right the rather daft, illiterate welsh woman whos liberal use of the "N" word kicked off an absolute storm in the community!
so, I have one pointer for you...
peep (TO LOOK)
verb
to secretly look at something for a short time, usually through a hole:
I saw her peeping through the curtains/into the room.

peep
noun [S]
a quick look:
Take/Have a peep at what it says in this letter

peeps: in the act of peeping!

anyway, im gone now so i guess I'll never get the explaination as to what you actually meant by your "sentence", i use the term loosely as you dont seem to be able to accurately form them.
in case your wondering i was being polite before and trying to be friendly. its not a comfortable state for me and im much better at being an angry Bitch!
so heres my uncensored response to your first comment...
dear star,
hmmmm... so its one hell of an assumption to assume that people in the UK do'nt speak Greek... like yourself a great many people in the uk cant even speak English anymore choosing instead to talk in some hybrid american ghetto english, avoiding all words greater than four syllables and only partially understanding what they are saying to each other... the British and their steadfast refusal to learn other languages is legendary and not apocraphyl...
there are many people of Greek origin in the uk but lets face it i would say that one person in a carriage of twenty who are within hearing distance of my conversation is still a pretty private conversation and to believe so isnt "one hell of an assumption" its a fucking fact.
the other thing you seemed to have missed is the general tongue in cheek nature of my blog, my blod sweeping statements are just that for a reason and any half perceptive intelligent human would recognize the fact.
so, thats how i should have answered you but you caught me at aan off moment of attempted civility
kisses
